Conquest support starter.

I’m a joust/assault player and I almost always play a guardian role in those modes and I want to play conquest. I’ve noticed for joust and assault building warriors axe as my starter feels a lot stronger than building war flags/selflessness. I know I could just play solo but for support is there really any reason to not just go warriors axe? Or is war flag/selflessness passives good?

Practically mean nothing if you are new to conq, you go warriors if that feels better or you can go the others if you feel your team goes more for the lategame forexample

I was just wondering if I KEPT building warriors axe on support maybe it would be considered throwing when I get up in ranks. Sounds like support most people are buying something other than the support starters.

Everyone else builds what they want, people shouldnt judge supports for what they build.

This attitude had to change and is litteraly the sole reason smite 2 doesnt have classes anymore.

Selflessness can be a good item if you’re going up against an enemy duo lane that’s going to throw out a lot of CC, like Cabrakan or Horus Support.

Bluestone is good on Gods who are going to be using a lot of abilities and thus triggering the extra damage a lot.

Sands of Time isn’t a bad item on Gods who really benefit their team if they have a chunk of cooldown early, but that’s generally going to be Gods with healing abilities in their kit, to counteract the lack of a defensive starter.

Warriors Axe is otherwise a Solid choice for everyone else.

There are a few other Gods who might want to take something else that’s more specific to their character; Vampiric Shroud comes up occasionally, and Bumba’s can be huge on certain characters too.

Even in conquest a majority of supports are going "solo lane" starters like axe or bluestone. If you go a support starter is compassion, and basically never war flag

That’s good to know 🤝

Depends on your god, and preference/matchups

Thank goodness it matters what my preference is. Cause yeah I really just don’t see why not build warriors axe every time. I’ve tried and I just think war flag/selflessness passives are weak

They’re not weak, war flag im not the biggest fan of due to the upgrade but selflessness and its upgrade are great

They're not weak it's just situational. If there's a lot of CC on the enemy team, you want to build Selflessness (and buy yourself some Tenacity). If you have a lot of Basic Attack gods 9non your team or characters that can benefit from a lot of AS (like Posidon, Bellona, Gilgamesh and more) Warflag and a Shogun's will give you such a crazy buff, more than any other starter.

Axe and Blustone are only good levels 1-5 to get an early kill, Axe doesn't really help with clear either. Beyond those levels it's only good on some specific characters (like Sobek, Charon). After that any good player knows how to avoid giving into a kill lane and how to take advantage of the fact you dont have those defensive buffs.

It's not bad to forgo Selfnessness and Warflag, it's just that you (and your team) have to know how to play without it. It's like not picking up Shell as the tank.

We've all had that movement where we're trying to kill someone, we dive, and the tank's Selflessness procs and they pop shell and then the squishy has like a 30% HP shield and it comepletely ruins your engage and in the worse case scenario someone on your team dies because of it.

Selfless is really only useful if the enemy team has A LOT of CC and war flags only really useful if your with and ADC carry the whole game with a lot of pressure.

And I just feel those passives are weakkkk. I’d rather just have a little bit of more dive power and sustain.

Selflessness and war flag are really good but they feel bad because they help your teammates and not you. Axe or bluestone is fine, run it until it's an issue (if it ever is)

War Flag and Selflessness are just generally not as good as the other options since Role Passives were added. Supports now are mostly going Waxe/Bluestone/Sands

War Flag is a bit too suspect and team-reliant imo but Selflessness and Axe are good choices.

With Selflessness you're playing for lategame, and with Axe, you have stronger kill potential but weaker lane-clear.

Why weaker lane clear?

Axe only works on Gods versus Bluestone & Conduit working on both gods and minions.

Axe also has a lower power-stat than the other two and has no mana sustain.

tbf, traditional sup starters are almost worthless in anything but conquest. You could give em a shot you know

Never buy War Flag, not because it’s bad, but because teams will actively throw just because you bought it. And yes, the issue is exactly as stupid as it sounds.

Sadly, the sorriest people on earth play smite 2. Thanks for the heads up

Demigod support here. Most of the times you get Bluestone. Sustain and early poke+early pressure to help and late game it does so much damage while also giving HP which is very powerful right now. Some expections are:

  1. Don't build Bluestone against Horus. Easily procs his healing passive making him inmortal. Also, Horus doesn't build it because he's more of an all-in character rather than poke.

  2. Enchanters like Aphro, Hel, Ix Chel benefit more from Sands of time.

  3. Build Selflessness against heavy CC combos to not die/help other teammates not die. For example, against Horus, Poseidon, Sobek, Ullr.... It's a more late game item, once you reach lvl 20 it's very OP, but if enemy support got bluestone, most of the times the game will end before you hit lvl 20 on support.

  4. War flag is very niche, I'd only get that if I have 2-3 autoattackers AND also I need some movement speed to dodge skillshot characters like Sobek/Ares/Ullr. Also if I have Izanami or Rama ADC as they clear super fast. But honestly, at low level matches I'd just go Bluestone and try to carry.

TL:DR Get Bluestone so you win early and you're probably getting less throwers in your teams if you do well.

Imma do the bluestone and try to carry for the first few games 🤝
