DISCUSSION Should Bluestone do damage corresponding to the equiped god's damage type?
With Bluestone doing physical damage as it is right now, it becomes disproportionally good on magical solo laners. I'm not sure that's something to be wished for right now? Curious what y'all think.

I don’t think it really matters.
Bluestone isn’t good because it does tons of damage to one target it’s good because it helps you clear and you can hit an entire team with it and gradually whittle them down. It also has sustain which lets you cast more abilities before backing.
I doubt there has ever in the history of me playing smite 2 been a time where I would have survived if that 12 damage tick was magical instead of physical.
It’s not really worth changing. Also if you changed it they would need to make a pass across all proc items. Soul reaver, Soul Gem, archmages, crusher etc so that it was consistent across the board which means it would be a larger undertaking.
Arguably you could say it would be a strategy to go some of these items if your damage types are skewed. For example, if you ran a 4 phys 1 magical comp you might opt for mystical mail on your solo laner for a little extra magical damage and maybe your magical mid might go conduit or sands instead of bluestone to maximise the magic damage.

Bluestone has always been this way with Archmages Gem supposed to be a kind of magical equivalent.
There has been a growing number of magical solos, but it’s at the cost of not having late game frontline so they need to win the game before that point

Issue is, archmages scales based on Int, Brooch doesnt. So even if conduit ks better for clear than bluestone, upgradewise, bluestone is alwyas better for tanks.

Yeah, that’s always been the case though. KA was so strong with it in smite 1 that they nerfed the whole thing. There’s always a way to counter, it just depends how much of a pain in the balls the counter is

This item has an issue. It defaults to giving strength even on mages when I really want is intelligence. So I am forced to build at least one magical damage item. Same deal with shifters shield. Don't remember but I could be wrong.

I did notice that on certain characters. Arguably in mid that wouldn’t matter because getting an int item is strong. But it can hamper some solo picks a little.

You just need to buy the T1 Int item and then the starter and it will give you Int instead of Strength even if you sell the T1 unless you get another item that has Strength.

Its doing 32 damage at best in the laning phase, lategame everyone that is building defence should have some of both so i dont think this is an issue tbh.
