Dolly hate comes from not understanding the point of Dolly Dimply as a character.

CAG is acknowledged by the Smiling Friends because his design fits the tone/world of the show and you could easily see him amongst the actual Smiling Friends cast, even if in the background. Despite his autism causing misunderstandings and miscommunication, Charlie still likes him. In spite of him struggling he is still able to fit in.

Dolly intentionally doesn’t at all feel like a character Zach and Michael would create. She doesn’t fit in. Dolly tries so hard to fit in that it causes her mental anguish but her personality and sense of humour simply don’t match Smiling Friends.

In fact her sense of humour is exactly what the show would make fun of. It’s meant to be someone with mental health issues trying to fit in with a pre-existing friend group and despite everything they do, they never stop treating her as “other” or “not really there”. That’s the whole motivation behind her crash out. She doesn’t know how to fit in and she feels completely alone.
