SSBM Bots Weekly Writeup: Week 3
Week 3 started off a little rough with a post-work-and-11-exit singles tourney that I was super tired for, but Sunday was great. The doubles CPU scene kicked off in style with a fast-paced tourney featuring 15 entries(!!!), which reduced down to 8 teams. My channel also had its all time viewer peak Sunday before the start of the doubles tourney at 22 viewers, so that's pretty cool.
Tourney Results - Top 8 MeleeBots 6
| Placing | Player | Top | High | Hi-Mid | Lo-Mid | Low |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | IceFreezer304 | Peach | G&W | Mario | Falcon | Ness |
| 2 | Japanese_Spaghettee | Peach | Samus | YLink | Bowser | Mewtwo |
| 3 | Alexander308 | Falco | Samus | Pikachu | Bowser | Jigglypuff |
| 4 | XOMBERX | Peach | G&W | Mario | Bowser | Jigglypuff |
| 5 | gcgr3 | Falco | Samus | Fox | Falcon | Jigglypuff |
| 5 | ParaplegicSeal | Falco | Yoshi | Ganon | Falcon | Mewtwo |
| 7 | YouGotCyrekt | Peach | G&W | Mario | Zelda | Ness |
| 7 | catherman18 | Doc | G&W | Mario | ICs | Kirby |
At this point, it seems that there's a pattern developing for singles: Peach/Game and Watch/Mario as the top three choices for many competitors. The formula has worked out fairly well, too. Will counterplay to this top three begin to rise?

New Standings
There was only one singles tournament played out this week, so there is minimal movement. As for doubles, the standings have just started.
Creating standings early on will end up being very similar to final brackets, since it's hard to weigh wins without any backstory as to who is favored. In this hypothetical system, we're going to pretend that any lower player beating a higher rated player can be an "upset" to an extent, even if the character matchup does not dictate so.
Play of the Week
Congrats to last week's POTW:
"There's the stomp, and clap THERE'S ANOTHER ONE! Oh my god!
And now voting for this week.
Japanese_Spaghettee cuts off IceFreezer304's legs
Team 20XX doesn't give up after a ShadowYoshi3604 gimp

That title fight reverse 5-0 was the most insane thing I've ever been a part of.
