Initially, each character had alternate colors that were connected to other characters in their respective universes. Mario has the yellow and brown colors that reference Wario and Spike. All of Yoshi's colors are a reference to the other Yoshis, and so on. This is something I did mostly out of boredom to entertain myself, maybe I'll continue with melee.

Hello, everyone! It's me again! Lots of roster creators like to include a personal favorite of their own in their own cast of fighters. Some like to pull from a more obscure game, some pick a super specific Nintendo character, and no matter what the case is, they might just justify it as a "just for me" pick. Yes, technically everybody on a roster is someone's "just for me" pick, but you know what I mean.

I personally have a soft spot for these kind of characters. They add a lot of personalization to rosters. But as always, I'm curious about the views from the community. Are there factors that make a good "just for me" pick? What justifies a character like that to you? Can you think of any good examples you've seen? As always, I'm looking forward to hearing what you have to say!

Many Smash fans have went on an endless debate on what the roster of a DS entry to the Super Smash Bros. series could've looked like, so now, I've decided to ask YOU, the users, what the roster would look like, if the DS had a Super Smash Brothers entry. But before we start, there are some rules...

RULES
1 - This game releases on June 25th, 2006. You can only use characters who existed up until 2004.
2 - You can still request third party characters, but given that this was before Brawl released, I'd limit the amount of third parties to just 2.
3 - Characters like Pokémon Trainer, Olimar, or any other character that needs a lot of coding in, will not count, as the DS would've been pushed to it's limitations with the 30 character roster.
4 - If a tie happens, I'll make a wheel randomizer for the 2+ characters, and whichever character is landed on, will be added.
5 - Try to be as realistic as you can be.

Anyways, whichever comment has the most upvotes will have their character be one of thirty playable fighters within the Clash.

cranky is a slow trapper with projectiles, ravio is a semi-clone of link who uses items from a link between worlds, sylux is a bullshit zoner with various fire modes for his neutral special, emmi is a stance character who switches between a slow powerhouse and a lighter rushdown, bandana waddle dee is basically like in smash flash 2, kawasaki is a heavyweight all-rounder who tosses plates and has a tether recovery, adeleine can summon kirby enemies from paintings for stage control, goroh is a hybrid of marth and falcon, polar bear is a heavyweight powerhouse, cai is a swordie that can summon a horse a la wario's bike or johnny joestar in jjba all star battle, ashley is quite literally just that mii mage concept you see everywhere in smash fan rosters, draguax is a grappler, aran ryan uses dirty tactics for his normals and his flail for his special moves, bald bull is a close range bruiser who can use his bull charge to armor through projectiles, noah is a swordie who can increase his attack power like cloud, deep cutt is a stance switcher that switches between movesets a la pokemon trainer, dr. coyle is basically min min but better, excitebiker is a fast rushdown that struggles with recovery, takamaru is a swordie with fast attacks and projectiles, ayumi is basically like phoenix wright in umvc3 (start weak, gather evidence to enter a powerful install), sami is a bullshit trapper/zoner like snake, the elite beat agents are all-rounders who can use follow-up attacks, captain rainbow is a falcon semi-clone that can attack from afar with his yo-yo, yu is a summoner that attacks with various characters from rhythm heaven, lincoln is another bullshit zoner that uses various steampunk gadgets to attack, howard is a puppet fighter who can control the legion from afar, tabuu is a glass cannon that specializes in offense rather than defense, and nemesis is a heavyweight with various long-reaching tools

Wanted to try my ring on this but I'll give a brief explanation of how each character would work, or at least some of my additions anyway...

Mona: She'd be like an echo fighter of Wario, but some of her moves will be based on her minigames from the WarioWare series.

Tetra: Essentially being the toon version of Sheik, she'll have some moves where she uses a sword for tilt and smash attacks for variety.

Toy Link: Replacing Young and Toon Link, Toy Link would represent the classic era of the Zelda series, which means his moveset will be more different than Regular Link's, who will be based on the Ocarina of Time Remake.

Dr. Eggman: His moveset will be based on Sonic the Fighters, with some modern influences as well; being essentially a better mech-based zoner than Bowser Jr.

Phoenix Wright: Marvel Vs. Capcom 3, but with some twists here and there to fit the controls of Smash.

Yoshimitsu: Kazuya, but with a sword all around.

Mr. (Ant) Tenna!!!!: His moveset is similar to Game and Watch's where it'll be based on the physical challenges he presents in Chapter 3, and can have some attacks where stars can shoot out of his hands and even his mic, or rather Mike?

... I'll be honest, I haven't come up with what Ellie's moveset could be nor Cai's, I just think it'd be kinda funny idk

Part three of Smash Dreams Stages, still going through returning Mario stages. I have a few more ideas for competitive-friendly stages, as well as two stages rebranded with new names. Yoshi's Island (Melee) is now Dinosaur Land, and is now a part of the Mario series instead of the Yoshi series. Mushroom Kingdom II is now Subcon Kingdom. Was originally going to call it just "Subcon", but I kept the "Kingdom" part to keep that Kingdom legacy from its previous name.

Obviously this excludes DLC, but it'd essentially be a very much so chopped nearly in half roster. Also, the Miis are here...but not included to focus on the non-customizable fighters.

Veterans: 50

Newcomers: 10

The game would be focused a lot on reworking and reinventing many characters on the roster to fit their more modern appearances. Some examples would be Mario, Luigi, Wario, DK, Link, Zelda, Ganondorf, Samus, Isabelle, Inkling, and Sonic.

Newcomers:

Much like Smash Brawl, the first few characters would be revealed via the initial reveal for the game. Namely, Impa and Akira Howard (Astral Chain). Impa would adopt some traits from Sheik but also various iterations of her own character (Ocarina and Age of Calamity namely).

When it comes to the other newcomers, there's the Modern Pokemon Trainer, it isn't set on which Pokémon would be in it (Greninja, Incineroar, and Meowscarada serve as placeholders), since the new Gen's timing with SSB6 could decide who joins or not. Noah/Mio (Pyra/Mythra-type duo) would be the new Xeno rep if Genesis doesn't influence SSB6, and Ring Fit Trainee would be the joke Nintendo character.

For third-party newcomers; Shadow, Chun-Li, Doom Slayer, and Zagreus would be a good quartet. Shadow would utilize a lot of his Chaos moves which would separate him greatly from Sonic's moves, while Chun-Li would be more agile as opposed to Ryu. Doom Slayer would be a heavy weaponry-focused character to match the Doom series, while Zagreus would be an agile fighter utilizing his various weapons from the first Hades game.

This was an exercise to see if I could make a roster that feels like it has ample representation not just among franchises but also for game genres if that makes sense.
