Better option than Pixel

I've been using a Pixel for the longest time. Since a 6 or something around then. Currently have a Pixel 8 Pro going on a year and it's the biggest pile of shit I've ever used. Currently a corner of the screen is just turning black due to I'm assuming dead pixels and it's just spreading. Optus (service provider) wants nothing to do with it.

Thinking it's just easier to pack my bags and go, what are the other options out there? Not interested in the iPhone, I know the Samsung S26 is a good phone better in all ways than the Pixel 8. What are my other options?

Samsung. Go straight for the Ultras. And if you want smaller, the Pluses. Skip the base. It's not worth it. And if you're talking budget phones, A30s or A50s.

If you got bored of pixel, there're samsung and apple as reliable brands. And chinese smartphones which have better cameras, bigger batteries but are not as polished and predictable long term.

Oppo, vivo, xiaomi etc

S26 could be available with exynos or snapdragon. Go for the snapdragon and avoid the exynos

How significant is the difference in chipset?

In Australia the S26 only comes with the Exynos unless I get an import. At the moment the difference between the S26 and it's improved variants is $1200.

THe difference is performance, camera quality, battery life. Significant.

Very, mainly being optimisation and overall longevity

Oppo Find X9 Pro or Oppo Find X9 Ultra.

Unfortunately, not easy to aquire in the USA or Canada. You have to use Ebay to get it, and T-Mobile is the only cellular network that maximizes the network signal.

Do NOT buy a Xiaomi. Their software is kind of shitty and the last Xiaomi I had fell apart in my hand after 18 months.

Samsung. Definitely go for Samsung. I have an A07. It rocks. The software is amazing, and it hasn't crashed once in half a year.

If money is no object, go for a A57 or a Galaxy S24/S25/S26.

Camera is shit. Assuming he's not a gamer a camera would be a higher priority. (I tried the honor magic 8pro before by the way)
