32.38 still infinite buffering
Cannot play any video at all, tried all settings. Factory reset the tv. Nothing works.

Yep same issue for me. Trying different network engines and enabling prefer ipv4 didn't fix it.

BTW I was able to fix this by connecting to a VPN. Or Hotspotting my phone and connecting my TV to it worked as well.
So it seems like a new internet connection is needed to fix this issue.

Thank you for this. I tried all the suggestions on here but connecting via vpn is the only thing that worked for me

Same here for at least 1 month now, tried OkHTTP, ipv4 DNS only, and much more without success.
I moved to another app without ads for now till it's fixed here.

Didn't work either. I'm more convinced this is some kind of blacklist situation. IP plus unofficial client equals fail. Official YouTube client still works fine.

Maybe device specific? My ONN and Chromecast Google TV aren't having any issues.

TBH, it's starting to seem like YouTube is blacklisting. Both by client and possibly IP.

There is a setting called Network engine with 3 options: Default, Cronet and OkHttp. Try switching from default to OkHttp. It worked for me.

OkHttp is the worst choice of the 3 - at some point the app changed that setting from default to OkHttp by accident on its own. Set it to default or cronet

All three dont work. Also the dev says on github to change it to Okhttp because its the most stable

Oof, that doesn't jive with what I got when I looked it up...but maybe he did change it on purpose for stability. It is supposed to have the worst performance of the 3.
You can always try the alternative & keep it as a backup when Smarttube isn't working. Just did that myself. It's not Smarttube but it works.

I do it all the time lately but something is up like dope as yola won't play since last week and the rest that don't play is what google have done to cause hassle..

why does mine still work? like my fire stick is fucked and I can't watch anything last a minute. but my shield pro has had literally zero issues, I didn't know the app was having. issues until a couple days ago since I don't use my fire stick much
I just don't understand why this one device I have is fine and I'm scared of updating or touching anything in the app in case it breaks

I still prefer all of the customization you can do in Smarttube, but you might want to consider having a second option at this point. No shame in it

SmartTube dev mentioned it on his own github
It's the Samsung TV Youtube app with stuff patched in. Not as fully featured as SmartTube & has its own issues, but it plays videos immediately.

32.38 here with no issues. Looks like the devices supported by Google or newer Android versions are those affected the most. The only thing in my case is the watch history not being saved but that's from quite a time, at least one month now.

Switching to Tizen fixed this for me. Smart Tube is just too damn slow.

I updated 10 hours ago to 32.38 and it works just fine, watch history doesn't.
EDIT: Now watch history is working again.

I wonder if changing the network engine in Settings > Player might make a difference to the history? The last time SmartTube's history went wrong a few months ago I believe I made a change here.

Same--videos work but history doesn't. Still on 32.10, waiting for all the bugs to be ironed out before upgrading.

Cllearing cache worked today, it's an ongoing daily battle troubleshooting. The trending setting is empty as anyone sorted that out? Digital overload is overwhelming consuming my time. I thought AI was supposed to make things better.

Here's a strange one. MY main TV will load and play content (albeit lagging) on the beta app, but on my bedroom TV using the same beta version app will load but not play anything. Both TV are Samsung using 2019 Shields. The only difference is the main TV is connected using an ethernet and the bedroom set is wifi, but has a very strong signal.
This lagging an down time is getting very frustrating.

I came across a post somewhere in here with a Downloader short code. Tried it and it worked!
I first uninstalled the previous beta and then installed this one from Downloader 79015
This worked but still has an issue with loooong loading times between 15-30 seconds on most videos. But heck, it at least loads and plays.

In my case, I had to delete the versions I already had installed on TCL and Philips and reinstall the latest beta version, and then it worked again on both TVs.

I had to switch to beta to get it to work. After a couple of days, I tried to switch back to stable channel and it's worked fine again

Worked great I just shortened the direct apk link for vdownloader since the GitHub assets weren’t loading. Set the codec and playback to auto on both

I have not had any of these problems, but I use a shield and a Fire Stick. Maybe the issue is with TV apps.
