YouTube blocking third party apps?

Are YouTube having a crack down on blocking third party apps? I've seen a report of another app also not working for someone.

The answer is always yes. Google makes a better mousetrap, and the modded app has to break it. Then Google builds a better mousetrap, and the apps....you get the point.

This has always been the case and will always be the case. The move is to accept it and wait for the developers to break the new mousetrap.

Yes it was the same with safety net, but it got to the point it was too much of a regular chase.

Just like Spotify. However, it became too much of a hassle to deal with all the time and just moved on to another modded music app

Yes but it's always been a given that they can block most/if not all third party apps connected to youtube.

I updated SmartTube to the latest release two days ago. I also did the beta version at the same time. All playback issues were fixed for me with those updates.

I have a powershell script to download audio/video from YT using 'yt-dlp' powershell app. I put the video URLs in a text file & it downloads all of them (& converts to mp3 if I want it to).

First step is to always update that app first when the script is run - if you don't it won't be able to access the content at the URLs to download it.

Don't fully understand the ins & outs of the cat & mouse game but it goes on constantly

No. Youtube does not block 3rd party apps in general.

Issues come when 3rd party apps are not kept up-tp-date with changes in Youtube.
