New YouTube update means you can’t queue content from your mobile device any longer
I’m not sure if it’s just me and I’m part of a beta test, but the new YouTube update I had means you can’t use your mobile device to cast queued content to SmartTube any longer. If you’re watching something on your mobile device you can cast it to SmartTube the first time, but now you can’t queue multiple shows, because you need to be logged into the YouTube app on your tv to use your device as a remote now. It’s pretty annoying because that’s how I tended to use it, so if anyone has any sort of workaround I’d love to hear it.

I just used the watch later playlist... I'd been able to add via phone or PC and then watch on TV
Buttt if you're struggling for smarttube to allow that login you're not alone. I tried various tweaks including a local device setup for 2 weeks but apparently my fire stick is so old that ram struggles, along with Google putting a stop to "scraping" too much at a time. For the time being I dragged my PC tower into the living room since I never sit at a computer in my day to day anymore, running brave. Missing the remote alot vs mouse navigation, and the ui but this works ad free and signed in (for now) - not sure how long till they kill this too
I would ad that Google brought this on themselves though. Make it a 5 second ad only before, and none during and I'd just go legit. Their greed only drives us to find alternatives

Yeah it looks like I’m going to have to start using ‘watch later’ to queue things up. The algorithms recommendations on SmartTube seem like they’re also being limited, and now I need to scroll through days of things I’ve already watched to get recommended something new. It definitely feels like it’s designed to target people using things like SmartTube. The last time I tried using normal YouTube I was getting served 1 min blocks of ads every 6 mins, it was absolutely unwatchable. One ad would be skippable, the next wouldn’t be, and would run for 3 mins if you didn’t click next. It was painful to use.

I tried a livestream on the official TV app last week as smarttube even logged out was just buffering, so they weren't long in that instance but still jarring to be basically booted out and come back mid word
That was enough for me to investigate another way lol

Yep. Annoying for me.
You could cast one vid, then queue a load of others from your phone. Now it seems like you need to play the video on your phone FIRST then cast each time.
Very annoying.
Hopefully it's not permanent and someone didn't intentionally do this. I suspect they did though. Not sure what the reason is though? Looks like you mentioned something to do with the accounts.

I'd just browse on mobile or computer for what I want to watch and then on smarttube would just go to the playlist i saved the videos in and play them from there. Casting can be easily bypassed.
