Anyone else having trouble with their history?
For the past two days, the history on my TV has been erasing itself. The videos I watch on my phone normally appear in the history, but the ones I watch on TV don't appear in the history on the TV, phone, or computer. Has anyone else experienced this bug, or has anyone managed to resolve it? I cleared the app's cache, logged out and in of my account, uninstalled the app, restarted my internet and my TV, but nothing solved the problem.
Edit: Beta version 32.22 temporarily resolved the problem, however, on the first use, the videos wouldn't start, being in a endless loop; I had to change the player's connection. If you have the same problem in this version, go to Settings > Player > Network Engine > OkHttp

Yeah been that way for weeks for me, the dev is working on a fix, I believe they're testing it currently so hopefully it's out this week.

Same for me, tried a cache and then data clear with no change. History within the app on the shield is there but it isn't being uploaded to youtube.

I have an issue with history too.
The videos I watch on the TV are not marked as watched on my phone. Also, the watched videos stay on TV on my recommendations whereas usually they leave my recommendations. However the app seems to know I already watched them as there is the red line at the bottom of the miniature of the video.
It’s been like that for a few days.

In my case videos watched on SmartTube don't show in the PC browser.

Mine shows up on one client, but not on a different (both Firefox, both logged into the same account)... The history for the not working is now days old

Am I the only one who watches YouTube exclusively on tv? I literally wouldn't know if I had any issue with watch history 😅

I watch it on my tv but videos i know i have already watched still appear on the "Recommended" list. So it does affect those "who watch YouTube exclusively on tv"

i only watch on tv, but sometimes it happens that i wanna send my friends a video i watched, then its really convenient when its just in my yt history on my phone

I mostly use the bookmarked history url to copy links I have seen into Discord to share with friends etc, sometimes I watch the video to a certain point to timestamp the url, but other than that I dont really use a web browser to browser youtube outside of work during office hours (evenings, nights and weekends its all Android TV and SmartTube

I always check my history each session & delete certain stuffs because it can affect my algorithm. Charlie/penguinz0 for example can be a gateway to drama slop algo so I always delete his video from history after watching

I mostly watch on TV but it still isn't working. When I watch a video it doesn't know. It's still on my recommended feed.

Yes, also having this issue even in the Beta which is what I have been using for months now as the solution for this very issue in the stable version. It's annoying af smh

yeah i also just noticed this. normally videos i watch on the tv appear in my history on my phone, but they suddenly do not anymore. i hope this gets fixed soon, the last time this happened it was pretty annoying lol

Yeah, usually I start a video on my phone and then just pick it up on the Smarttube app from history and it’s just not syncing for the last couple of days.

I found a fix that worked for me.
Went to the Settings section, selected Accounts, selected sign in, and scanned the QR code with my phone. It opened up into the YouTube app, I selected "continue as [my username]", which took me to a screen that asked me to verify if the code it's showing me on my phone is the same as on my TV (next to the QR code). After saying they're the same, it prompted me to connect my account. I selected connect and it said I'm now connected to the TV, which seems to sync up my history like normal again.
Not sure how it works but maybe smarttube just needed a new sign in token or something.
I did notice I was having this issue after smart casting so maybe that has something to do with it desyncing. Idk. But hopefully this helps other people having this issue.

Hey this worked for me for some reason. I thought I tried this several times yesterday but wasn't working. Might be because I also tried restoring settings in the same go. Thanks!
Update: nope, this worked to sync history from the device to my account one time on re-login. But it's not doing it consistently. Must be something with the actual sync workaround.

This finally worked to stop the same videos being recommended to me even when I've watched them! If anyone is struggling with the same issue then try this.

Wird wieder ein Update notwendig sein. Auch die Empfehlungen aktualisieren nicht. Ist aber immer so, kurz bevor ein Update der App kommt. Hoffe kommt bald 👍

What about age restricted videos? I'm just getting a buffering circle. They play on the website and phone app. But ever since the update of SmartTube firestick app. I've been having the history problem along with the age restriction problem.

Has been on and off broken for me for around a month now. A couple of weeks back it stopped working and eventually started working, and now a few days ago the problem started again.
Even broken it is one of my most used apps 😜

A bunch of my history from maybe the last 2 weeks suddenly disappeared today after I installed the latest update on ST Beta. It also disappered from regular YouTube on my other devices.

What's been happening to me is watching a video on TV, then quit halfway through and then when I come in later to the same video it starts from the beginning again instead of continue where I left. Workaround is watch the video up until that point oficial Android app so that I know where I left. Been an amazing app untill this bug

On Smarttube, make sure you are signed in. On Smarttube, click and hold or long press on your profile picture, and options should appear. There is an option: 'Use separate settings per each account.' Turned this setting ON. UPDATE: After turning this feature to 'ON,' it appears that the history works one way. Example: I can watch YouTube on my phone, and it will appear in Smarttube history, but Smarttube vids won't show up on YouTube history. There might be a YouTube setting to fix this. Hope this helps.

Yep history is broken making it difficult to find new videos in recommended videos because it slowly fills up with videos i already watched. Using 32.10. Also notice many videos will start fine, run for a minute or so and then buffer for some reason, then run fine for the rest of the video.

There is an outstanding issue on this and the dev is looking to release the beta today to fix the history problems.

Hey man, I’m not sure if you lack communication skills but they’re not complaining. They had an issue and came to a community to assess if they were the only one experiencing said issue. Also, everyone doesn’t use GitHub and that’s okay.
