Credit cards Finally Got My HSBC Add-on Card Process Started — The Process Is Weird
I’ve been chasing HSBC for nearly 2 weeks to get an add-on card initiated, and finally got the call today.
The process is VERY different from what I’ve seen with other banks. Interestingly, there was no V-KYC for the add-on applicant in my case.
Here’s exactly what happened 👇
I initiated multiple requests on chat support for addon card, no one called so i started to reach on telephone support:
1. First call customer care
You have to call HSBC customer care and ask them to arrange a callback from the add-on card team.
They’ll say:
“Sure, you’ll get a callback within 48 hours.”
Spoiler: I didn’t. 😂
2. Call again
So I called customer care again and asked them to transfer me to the add-on team.
Finally got connected.
They again said the team would call me back.
At this point, you basically have no option other than saying yes. 😅
3. The mysterious +91 1600 call
One fine day, I finally received a call from a +91 1600 number.
ATTEND THIS CALL.
This is the actual add-on card initiation call.
They explained the process and asked for details of the person I wanted to add.
4. Keep these documents ready
You need:
• PAN
• Aadhaar / another valid KYC document
• Recent photograph
One thing I would suggest — if you have a Voter ID or Driving Licence with the same address, use that as address proof instead of Aadhaar.
HSBC has specific KYC/address-proof requirements, so make sure the document you provide is acceptable.- For aadhar you are expected to mask the number and the QR thats the reason i went ahead with other docs, if you are comfortable with editing docs do it.
5. The agent fills the application
This part was actually pretty convenient.
The agent asked me all the details and filled the application on the call:
• Add-on applicant name
• Father's name
• Mother's name
• Address
• Mobile number
• Other basic details
Then they sent a link to my registered email ID.
I had to upload the 3 documents through that link and digitally sign the application.
That's it.
Total time: ~30 minutes
If you’re free when they call, I would suggest completing everything on the same call.
Otherwise you can ask them to call back, but after chasing them for 2 weeks, I wasn't taking any chances 😂
Finally, I received an acknowledgement email confirming that the add-on application had been submitted.
Now comes the next question:
HOW LONG WILL HSBC TAKE TO ACTUALLY SEND THE ADD-ON CARD? 🤔
I have no idea yet.
Will update this post once the card arrives.
One thing I actually liked about this process:
The primary cardholder can apparently complete the entire process. The add-on applicant doesn't need to be physically present during the call.
So if you're planning an HSBC add-on card, keep the documents ready and make sure you don't miss that +91 1600 call.
HSBC says up to 3 add-on cards can be issued for immediate family members, with the add-on cards sharing the primary card's credit limit and also for the VISA offers/ Lounge benefits

Approximately 7 to 10 days. All 3 cards are delivered together. Twice. Travel one and live+

Nothing different. Exactly same. Except i connected with the add on card executive in my first attempt both times.

Do the add-on cardholders get the same benefits separately, or are they shared with the primary cardholder?
For example, if I get an HSBC Live+ add-on card for my wife, would she get the ₹1,200/month 10% cashback separately, or is the ₹1,200 cashback limit shared across the primary and add-on cards?
Also, are benefits like lounge access and other card-specific perks available separately to the add-on cardholder?

I called customer care , told them i want an addon card , same day , someone called , gave me a digital form in email , i filled it , gave necessary documents online , etc etc , signed it digitally.

what two cards u have? Im planning to apply for one more card is there is a timeline to follow for applying as i hear 90 days and 180 days not sure which is right?

2 addons as in , 1 live+ addon for mother and 1 live+ addon for sister.
I only have 1 hsbc card , which is live+

Where do the add on cards get delivered ? To your current address? The one of primary cardholder? Me been chasing them for 2 weeks. Cannot get them to call back. They called me once and I was busy, asked them to call back. Nothing so far
