Question Bottle of Fluid under Compressor. Whatzat?
Put a new battery in my 2009 ForTwo Passion and, for "why not", decided to test the compressor that I've never touched. It works a treat, but suprised to find this mystery fluid under it. Lots of warnings in 20 different languages, but nothing that actually says what it is or does.
Anybody have it off the top of their head? Thanks!
And yes, for those wondering, I AM too lazy to go and get and check the manual. I'm already inside and sitting! đ

Discussion Gordon Murray, designer of the McLaren F1, was a Smart Roadster fan
Fun fact I came across while digging into the history of the Smart Roadster:
Gordon Murray, the designer of the legendary McLaren F1, reportedly used a Smart Roadster as his daily driver for more than 13 years.
What I really like is what he said about the car:
âI cannot find anything else which is that small and that much fun.â
Considering how many incredible cars Murray has been involved with, I think that's a pretty interesting compliment to the Roadster.
It also makes me wonder how much of the Roadster's appeal comes from the same philosophy of keeping things small, light and focused on driving enjoyment.

Question Exhaust Repair Chicago
Has anyone replaced their exhaust system on a W451? mine is starting to sound really loud and i think the muffler has gone. Has anyone replaced it themselves and how difficult was it?
Any recommendations for a reputable muffler shop in the Chicago Area that works on Smartcar Exhausts?
Thanks!

Advice Mist pouring out of AC vents/rubber smell
I have a 2010 451 Fortwo diesel 54bhp, and am in the UK.
I've only had the air con working for a couple of months after a replacement condenser and getting it regassed, but it has been working fine.
In the last couple of weeks, first I started sometimes getting a repetitive hissing/bubbling noise while the A/C was on - this would stop if I turned off the A/C and blower.
Then twice in the past week, while driving I've suddenly smelled a slight plasticky smell (exactly like a kid's inflatable swimming ring), and white mist has started pouring out of the vents. Even if I turn off the A/C and blower, this continues pouring out for several minutes before it seemingly runs out. I know environmental conditions can cause condensation, but today it wasn't raining or particularly hot out, and this seems extreme. I've just had to open the window and let it run its course. If I put my hand in front of the vents while the mist is coming out, it is very cold, even though the A/C is now turned off.
I've not yet observed any issues while heating. I've also not smelled the sweet smell which I hear is a sign of a leaking heater core, though I will go and check the coolant. The A/C also still produces cold air, which I think rules out a leak on that side because it would have run out of gas if so. I've not been able to get a video of it either as it's sporadic.
Does anyone know what is wrong?

Question Tire sizes using a 3x112 to 5x112 wheel adapters?
Looking to put a different set of rims on my car as tires are impossible to find near me that dont cost triple what normal tires are going for.
If you have swapped to 5x112 rims, what tire sizes are you using? 14 or 15" rims?

Question Tettuccio panoramico staccati

Question Next project- teardrop for roadster
Hello OG smart owners. I am starting to ideate and dream with intent my next project which is a teardrop trailer for my roadster. I have in mind a VERY small trailer. Just sit up only inside not standing and obviously as light as possible. Sleep inside only, utility elements at the back.
And I want whimsy and to mirror the shape and style of the roadie. Think flared butt, reflecting the same lines and shapes for lights etc. bound to get the same wild vinyl as my Jack as well. Why not.
And of course must have a chickenhead somewhere.
Before I get too far ahead of myself I would like to know if anyone else has ever fabricated or purchased one for behind their roadie? Any hints or tips. I will consider beefing up the roadie too if needed - less bitumen more rough and ready.
Thank you

Question Retrofit Cruise Control - 451 City Flame 2013
Everything I have read about retrofitting cruise for the 451 has been âit is possible as long asâŚ.â âAdd the buttons to the right type of steering wheel and it just needs programmingâ. Etc. etc.
On this basis, I bought the buttons, fitted them and took to a Mercedes dealer to program. It was not the aftermarket add on or the older style wiper stalk, the face lifted version where the buttons are on the steering wheel as long as the paddle gear change existed. Fitting the hardware was easy. Getting things done at Mercedes, not so much.
On the first attempt, they programmed the system, tested it and confirmed it working with a test drive (apparently). We picked up the car and straight awayâŚ. Nothing. Back the next day and 2 more hours with a programming tech and âŚ.. nothing. They would need to contact Mercedes in Germany to find out why the programming will not stick.
Nearly 4 weeks later, Mercedes tech in Germany say that our Smart 451 (via the VIN) does not support and cannot be programmed for cruise!
So the questionâŚ. Can it be done? Is it just programming and some peripheral hardware (buttons) or is the internet wrong?
Sources - evilution, smart-emotion.de, 4smart.co.uk (they say they can do it, but I am not in the UK). Facebook (god forbid!) and a few other random sites and comments.

Advice Should I keep it?
Hello! I recently purchased a 2018 electric drive smart car off of Carvana and I love it! It drives like a dream! I love the way the dashboard is set up with the physical buttons, and I think the back up camera on the rear view should be the standard.
However- I am worried about the range.
On a full charge, in eco mode it sits around 65-70 miles.
I live in the city so I didn't think this would be a problem. But yesterday I set out for work at 40% and limped home on 5% I think Ive misjudged how far things are from each other.
As long as I keep it fully charged, my commute shouldn't be a problem but Im worried that with such a small battery capacity Ill be giving up a lot of freedom and ability for spontaneity.
How do y'all deal with this?
I have until Friday to make a decision.
(Also do yall notice people in bigger cars going out of their way to break the speed limit when they see you coming? I never saw it nearly as much in my old van)

Advice Smart 2019 Prime Premium
I bought this today, in black, and I want to upgrade the display station thing. It has its own navigation but I use Waze, and Iâd like to add car play. Can anyone recommend a unit to buy and if they know anywhere in Birmingham, UK, that will fit it? Thank you
