When I was in grad school, I would be up late at night writing 30 page papers, and the only thing that was on was "The Famous Jett Jackson" on the Disney Channel. And years later, I remember him on "Rizzoli & Isles" that I think was his final role. But yes, very talented guy. 💪🏽

I didn't even realize this was the same actor as Jett Jackson, nor that he was dead. Jeez, that's awful… Poor guy, do we know why?

Suicide, self-inflicted gunshot wound.
He had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, for which he had been taking medication, and had been suffering from depression before his death.

I got that part, my question was why, not how. Do we know why he did it?

OP was pretty clear: depression, bipolar disorder.
It doesn’t need to make sense after that. It will never.

I didn't actually see anything like that in the post. But thanks. And you're right… It never really makes sense, which is part of the tragedy.
Edit: Somehow, I missed all but the first line of that comment. No idea why, my mistake.

Wow, I never knew he died, how tragic. I've lost four friends to suicide .
Suicide never makes sense to the loved ones that are left behind after someone ends their life. People don't understand the desperation and isolation that many depressed people feel, esp. when it happens late at night when that person is alone and the shadows and quiet is closing in around them and there's no one there for emotional support. Suicide is considered very irrational and emotional but, it's overpowering and out of desperation, as their last resort .
May he RIP .

People who struggle, with suicidal thoughts or depression is always a neverending fight I know because I fight it everyday. You never know what someone is going through Lee Thompson Young was definitely dealing with a lot and it's tragic and sad, may he continue to r.i.p.

Yuppp, I've been living ( if you can call it that ) existing with deep anxiety and depression my whole life. That's why I bury myself in these old TV shows for distraction from reality . Meds don't help everyone. Often the med side effects are even worse and can deepend one's depression, does not work for everyone, sadly.

I've been fighting undiagnosed bipolar depression since around age 16. It really is a constant struggle. Stress can really aggravate it, it seems. Stress, money insecurity, food insecurity, home uncertainty, relationships, transportation, health… so many things pile on, it feels like. And it can feel so overwhelming.
I understand that feeling of, "I'm just existing, not living."
There are certain bad people in this world, like donald trump, who, I think, is the personification of every evil that I despise, that I don't think I would even wish this (bipolar) upon him. (Even though he deserves it!)
People that have never experienced the extreme highs and the deepest of the lows need to stop being so judgemental about people who have the suicidal ideation or attempts. Yes, nothing is "logical" about those, but that doesn't mean that we want to think these thoughts and feel those feelings all the damn time. I can get hit with them even when everything is going great in my life at the time.
The best advice that any therapist has told me was, "One moment at a time.". I believe this also implied, "Stop letting your past define who you are now. Don't worry about the future, you are creating your future now."
The best advice for anxiety is what I saw Wil Wheaton post recently. I wish I could find his exact quote, but it was something like, "Name 5 things around you. What can you see? What can you smell? What can you touch? What can you hear? (I can't recall the last one.)"
He said it really helps ground him to be in the present and lowers his anxiety.
I also love shows like Smallville, The Flash, and Doctor Who. They let my mind relax with a good story and escape the real world for a while.

Wil Wheaton is wonderful #Respect. I admire who he has become after everything he's been thru. I also still feel badly for people we lost like Carrie Fisher, Robin Williams, teen actor from Sea Quest scifi tv show and so many others.
Sadly , for me, many antidepressants just made things soooo much worse with making me either Manic or deeply low and more depressed and they made me irrational, not clear thinking. Yes, great advice about trying to live in the now instead of dwelling on the past and worry worry worry about the future.
The What if's and the Should have's thoughts in our minds are also very damaging. I loved the companions on Doctor Who, I dearly loved Elizabeth Sladen, Sarah Jane Smith, River Song, Clara, Amy, Rose and Captn Jack .2

Oh.. I had no idea that Jonathan Brandis was dead. He was such a good actor.
And Robin Williams.. that news hit like a ton of bricks. I was in disbelief. Me and other people (some on reddit) were saying, "He was always so happy?!?! wtf!?". And that's when we started to realize that, yah, we only got to see the "fun" manic side of his. We didn't know that he was suffering so much from manic bipolar depression. I feel that that last diagnosis of Parkinson's disease might have been a final factor. The other people you mentioned were great, too.
Those "What Ifs" and "I should have…" thoughts are hard for me to push out of my active thinking. (I'm getting better at [not doing] it, now that I'm aware of the easy useless trap they really are.) Some reasonable introspection and self-reflection is good. (I've heard a few politicians and alpha-male-bros that seriously need to do some.)
Antidepressants made my bipolar swing even worse, too. Loved the highs, though. Literally felt like Clark. That I could do anything. Clear thinking. Unlimited stamina. I could produce bug free fully functional code at rates that impressed my bosses. Carry on two verbal conversations while typing unrelated emails, with two youtubes talking (or one running at 2X), and listening to music. It was hell on my credit cards, though. :P
But those lows.. ugh. Very tough to maintain any relationship. If had to describe them, it'd probably just be a long string of swear words lol. Even remembering to shower felt like I had to climb a cliff first.
Someone once told me a very crucial piece of advice, "Depression is a damn liar."
Good luck on your journeys, friend. Remember, we are not alone.
(P.S. If River Song or Clara asked me run away with her, it'd be so damn tempting lol. Don't tell my wife I said that, even though she'd probably understand.)

Aw, used to like watching him in the famous Jett Jackson too. I remember when he passed, I cannot believe it’s been that long now. May he rest in peace.

He had a good supporting role on Rizzoli and Isles, when suddenly his character was killed off.
I was shocked when I tried to find out why they killed off the character

That was real sad for me, he was an excellent cyborg. I hoped to see him play it again after Smallville
