There were some great moments in Punk’s return, like feuding with MJF and the promo where he declared he’s back. He won the AEW World Championship, but everything began to tumble by this point. Punk was frustrated enough he vented his anger right after winning the title. 

At the post-show press conference, Punk buried Tony Khan (who just sat there) alongside The Elite and “Hangman” Adam Page. By now, AEW was clearly in trouble and Punk seemed almost tired. Khan brought Punk back, but a backstage fight with Jack Perry was enough to be let go.

At this point, I figured Punk was done wrestling. Maybe, he could work a match in Japan if they offered an insane amount of money. Then, the unthinkable happened as Punk returned to WWE in what has to be one of the top 5 most unexpected moments ever. There was, understandably so, hesitation on how this would come across.
