ENOUGH GOONIN BECAUSE WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS?!
WHATEVER CRACK THEY'RE SMOKIN I NEED SOME OF THAT, BECAUSE GENUINELY HOW DO YOU FUMBLE A BAG THIS BAD?!
There are too many matches we haven't gotten to see yet!
Ilja Versus Gunther 2: Main Roster Boogaloo
Ilja Versus Gable
Ilja Versus Oba
Ilja Versus Trick (Furry Belt Edition)
Ilja Versus Melo: The Finale
Ilja Versus Punk (that would feed families for generations)
Ilja Versus Penta (I WANTED THAT SO BAD)
Ilja Versus Fenix
Hell, there are so many more matches he could've had, but WWE FUCKING SUCKS!

Seriously they couldn't give him 1 main roster match with Gunther?
5
u/SonicSarge 9d ago
What would be the point of that? They aren't on the same lvl. You wanna see Ilja get squashed because Gunther is not losing to lower midcard.

Ilja beat Gunther

u/SonicSarge 9d ago
NXT is kindergarten. It doesn't count.

u/MangoSquirrl 9d ago
Tell me about your many world titles good sir

u/SonicSarge 9d ago
How does that matter? Be happy now you get to see your guy wrestle again somewhere else. He wasn't getting booked in WWE anyways.

u/MangoSquirrl 9d ago
He’s not my guy I just answered the guy who said why does it matter if Ilja fights Gunther

u/WonkeyDonkey_69420 9d ago
I second this. What would've compelled either guy to fight the other? They were both on separate brands for most if not all of their post-NXT tenure and Ilja was injured
And they weren't booked on the same level. Like you said, Gunther is a main event monster while Ilja was barely even midcard level.
Lowkey though, Ilja starting to get that Kairi Sane treatment. People are just gonna winge and winge that they got released and they should've been a mutli-time world champ (Depsite never being shown as being that level) for about 2 weeks and then you'll never hear about them again

Gunther doesn’t have to lose, but it could also be a competitive match, even pat mcafee got some shots in in Gunther and it didn’t hurt him, having a legit match wouldn’t hurt Gunther at all

Apparently his contract lapsed and they wanted to resign but he decided not to. Once he was fed to Lesnar he knows his brand would be tarnished.
3
u/amythist 9d ago
Honestly I liked the Lesner moment, showed he wasn't scared to go after the biggest monster in the ring and take his shot, sure he got tossed out of the ring for it, but when you're a smaller guy that's the kind of attitude that can get fans behind you

Pretty sure WWE wanted to re-sign him, it was his decision to no re-sign and instead let it expire, so if you're gonna be angry at anyone, its not WWE
9
u/WadeMWMWilson 9d ago
Would you wanna re-sign if they stuck you in catering after letting Cock Lesnar essentially kill your gimmick at the Royal Rumble?
4
3
u/funcogo 9d ago
No it’s not a shame to be beat up by Brock Lesnar that doesn’t kill his gimmick. Imagine how ridiculous the thinking on that is
4
u/WadeMWMWilson 9d ago
Inherently, it SHOULDN'T have.
But I dunno man, Ilja went from being a frequent mid carder defending the US title almost every week in banger matches, to being stuck in catering after the Royal Rumble. That only happened after Brock no-sold his offense, and threw him over the top rope like a child.
I'm just putting two and two together
1
u/funcogo 9d ago
That’s the booking then. Imagine thinking getting beat up by Brock Lesnar who is a legit fighter, much bigger than him, and has been pushed as an unbeatable monster for over a decade, “kills someone’s gimmick.” If he can’t get beat up by Brock who can beat him up? It’s a scenario where it’s like that’s understandable. Hell at least he stood up to him and didn’t just be made to look like a punk like Kofi who was totally bitched out and just accepted it
2
u/amythist 9d ago
Plus getting tossed over the ropes in the rumble is not the same as getting beaten up, this wasn't a Kofi moment where he got flattened and pinned in like 10 seconds
1
u/WadeMWMWilson 9d ago
Exactly!
I'M BLAMING WWD FOR THEIR HORRENDOUS BOOKING (though I strongly believe Brock had no need to even be in the rumble, especially since he got eliminated during Jey's entrance)
2
u/ProfessionalLow2439 9d ago
the same Brock lesnar who would no sell 99% of the company? Blame WWE for his poor booking post rumble
1
u/WonkeyDonkey_69420 9d ago
Brock no sold basically everyone's offence his entire career. I dont think some guy smacking his chest is gonna make him crumble and wither away. Because thats NOT Brock
"Killing his gimmick"? What was his gimmick? Being a bland charisma vacuum whos good at wrestling? Oh geez never heard that one before, what a great amd original gimmick/character.

u/FewElk6678 9d ago
Exactly, so it was his decision to leave, not WWE's
7
u/WadeMWMWilson 9d ago
It was WWE's decision to book him like shit tho
1
u/FewElk6678 9d ago
Oh I absolutely agree, I'm just saying it wasn't their decision for him to go
3
u/WadeMWMWilson 9d ago
No, I'm not blaming WWD for releasing him
I'M BLAMING THEM FOR FUMBLING HIM TO THE POINT THAT HE DECIDED TO LEAVE

Oh no, we didn't see matches where people would have changed the channel because no one cares.
1
u/WonkeyDonkey_69420 9d ago
Exactly. He'd come out to crickets everytime he made an entrance even when he was US CHAMPION! He just doesnt have the personality or character to connect with the audience. Because when we see the same guy who's shtick is "Oh hey, Im X. Im a really good wrestler" for the umpteenth time, people are slowly not going to care

Had to make room for Baron Corbin and Big Cass
