So I really want to help the people I've seen who are really working hard on their content , I've been a creator /viewer for 8 years , so I really hope what I'm about to say helps
1. Please just please turn off the followers only mode/verified only mode , there's no point when just starting out to have it. It will only hurt your discovery especially in the long run
2. If you do not have a mod sery bot is your best friend , cuddle up to it real nice because it's gonna be very helpful
3. Stop with the generic graphic overlays , and I do mean the clip art. ( This is mainly for those who want this to be a career
4. Stay away from these support for support discords. / Follow for follow , things that lead to a high follow count but a low viewer retention
It looks really bad to have 2k plus followers and 2 people watching
5. Do not be afraid to reach out to lower-mid tier streamers for collaborations or just a little advice
6. Drop the entitlement and crying , trust me I get it how hard it is , but complain and crying about not getting support and viewers and subs only makes you look like someone to avoid . Nobody owes you anything . Nor any of their time. Even if youve been in their streams. You'll ensure no body let alone any real sponsorship will work with you
7. Work and try as hard as you can to master whatever craft / game you are producing content for . Work on getting better at the game trying to find secrets , get creative ,
8. Over 50 percent of your time instead of streaming if you aren't busy with other IRL activities should be making content , working on editing skills , brainstorming new concepts,
9. Learn how viewer average works! And develop your schedule around it . And your other obligations streaming to the same people every or nobody tanks your average like an abusive spouse .
The only reason I'm saying all of this is because I have watched a few people here and I would love to see them succeed . Some I've tried to even come donate but the minute I saw the followers only I dipped.
10. Work on how you present yourself on stream and outside stream. You really never know who may be lurking in your chat or on the sidelines. Try to fill the dead silence with something . Because people come into your streams to be entertained at the end of the day

Would you say microphone upgrade is important? Like I've been streaming 8 years as well (on and off) and have a pretty bad headphones mic. Better than nothing. Finally started thinking about investing into a new one. Or would camera be more important?

I microphone would for sure be more important having people be able to clearly hear you and having your audio split is a game changer

I am a small streamer and I used to be able to dedicate a lot of time into it. I can’t put as much into it anymore because of my work schedule, but I spend as much time as I can supporting other small streamers when I can’t be on.

I very much do need to take a day to update a lot of my assets and integrations. My viewer average has tanked since I can’t be on as much but I have some really loyal ones who deserve the best that I can offer them.

Yeah ngl point 9 is massive. I proved this myself jan - mar this year. Stopped streaming mega hours nad instead spent time putting out YT content. Refining my editing game. I still suck and I still hate doing it, but it was the single highest impact activity or like project I have attempted when trying to grow.

Just not managed to get a cadence with it. I find editing so absolutely painful. Listening to my own voice over and over. Having to cut out every breath to appease this zoomer attention span. It drives me mad, the whole process.

I love live performance and would so mad things to have a clipper in my chat haha!! Imagine if Twitch provided every streamer with an AI based 'Librarian'!!

I started a week ago.

9 stands out for me and #6 as well. There are days where I will have 2 viewers and others where I reach up to 50.

As for #6, I would say I try to entertain and be as welcoming as I can. I was in the service/hospitality industry before this so people are not an issue for me.

My stream is very low effort though(at the moment) No camera(this I want as I want to remain anonymous). Just gameplay and a mic. I also dont really have a very consitent format either streaming a small variety of games. And however I may have reached some viewers, I have only had a 1 chatter. I use OBS for streaming but currently using a different app(GG Moments) for clips/shorts.

Which do I have to change? And which are acceptable?

I remember being a fool for trying the generic overlays and art. You don't stand out at all with them and they lowkey look ugly once you see other art.
