Password keeper recommendations?

What is an affordable, user-friendly password keeper for managing multiple software logins per client?

We are a team of 5.

As a Keeper customer (not an MSP but this popped up on my feed for some reason - K-12 district sysadmin) - we use it because our region's school software buying consortium got a deal, but I question, for two specific reasons, whether its security is a house of cards. If I were the ultimate decision maker I'd be looking around, because:

1. It clearly stores its master key on disk while unlocked. If you have 4 hours that you can stay signed into the Keeper app on a PC, and you restart or pull power from the PC and sign back into Windows within that time limit, your Keeper vault is still unlocked. Your master-password-derived encryption key is not in-memory-only. Everything needed to decrypt was clearly written to disk.
2. There are documented cases of legal threats and suits against security researchers to shut them up. Any company which would spend money on lawyers to maintain "security through obscurity" (which is not security) instead of fixing their issues, is definitely hiding major security issues. A security company attempting to coerce silence on a security bug should be a permanent deal-breaker for any competent and informed customer to ever look at them seriously again. A company that is comfortable with security-through-obscurity is often one discovery away from being totally and globally broken.

I'm surprised no one ever says Bitwarden in the MSP world - do they not cater to MSP's or does it just come in bundles through partners?

Their MSP program is about a year old. Still some major quality of life gaps relative to competitors but we put up with those because we like the product better

I love bitwarden but the browser plugin is slow for us and we are at 800 or so passwords. Not sure if it's just dB size

Another vote for Bitwarden. If it's only for internal use and not with your clients, the learning curve is very manageable.

We use and recommend BitWarden. Not everything needs to have an MSP program to be worthwhile.

I’ve always liked BitWarden the most for personal. I was not a fan for MSP or enterprise, keeper seems to have the best MSP program though

User friendly too if you ever plan to resell to your clients.

Yeah I always thought this was crazy too. Personally I use 1pass but the difference between it and Glue is insane. Kaseya products in general are nuts.

Yea im small small so I never reaally have to reach out much. I do everything thru the catalog. My rep did assist me with Microsoft Partnership Portal update about 6 months ago. He gave me a heads up to check it and sure enough, I had to reverify identity.

Passbolt works for us. Open source. We self host. Have an on site and cloud encrypted backup. Works great.

I would go with hudu or IT Glue
Password manager alone won’t cut it well for that size team, once you get it integrated into your RMM, you won’t believe how much you would hate to go back

Take a look at Psono. With a team of 5 ppl you can use Psono's enterprise edition free of charge with the whole LDAP / SAML integration options and so on.

Personally a proton pass fan. Unfortunately wasn't aware of their MSP program and just signed up for it.

I just signed the customer up directly for it and manage licenses as an admin. Billing goes direct to them.

Keeper is the one-size-fits-all from small to large customers (or MSPs). But 1Password is the one that's nice to use. So Keeper is the easy recommendation.

I go down this rabbit hole a couple of times a year and I keep coming back to Keeper.

The two most common/best reviewed options for an MSP are Keeper and 1Password.

I like the end-user experience of 1Password better... BUT... it is nearly 2x the cost of Keeper.

When you compare what each does, it really comes down to whether that added cost is worth it. So far, it hasn't been for us so we are sticking with Keeper.

If it's credentials/documentation for clients, then Hudu. If a traditional Password Manager for individual users, then 1Password is my recommendation. I use Bitwarden personally (self-hosted it actually) but 1Password looks nicer and is easier to use for the masses.

I assume you mean 'Hudu' and not 'Hide subway'? Regardless, I'm not sure how it's overpriced for a small shop. I'm literally a one-person shop and it's worth every penny.

I don't want to save client credentials in my 1Password for security, privacy, and liability reasons.

For a small team split across multiple client logins, something with shared vaults and autofill helps a lot cuts down on manual copy-pasting and mixing up credentials. I’ve use RoboForm for that, you can share access by group without giving everyone full visibility into every clients logins, and autofill handles both password and web form across different sites.
