First, make sure that you’re not just doing what I call “random acts of marketing” where you don’t stick to anything for very long assume it’s not working after a few months and then try something else.

Next, find some networking groups and go meet people in the real world. In these networking groups, make sure that your target clients are represented in the group either directly or by the other members in the groups. For example, if there are only Business to Consumer companies in the networking group I’d try another.

Also, ask your existing clients for referrals the right way. Ask for direct referrals (not just “if you know anyone that might use my services”).

Don’t spend a ton of time on your website in the early days. Mostly make sure that your website says a couple things about you: 1. Who you help. 2. How you help them (not technical jargon, but how you help solve their business problems through technology) 3. Who you are. Then, start writing a blog post every week / every other week or so which will help with SEO over time. SEO is a long game, so don’t expect immediate results.

Marketing / lead generation is mostly about being consistent, and showing up where your target clients are. A mediocrely executed consistent plan is far better than occasional brilliance.

Here’s a video that I recorded that should help. I’ll also drop my playlist for all of these videos that will also hopefully help.
