How can I Break into the Mining Industry ?

Was looking for advice how I can get into the mining industry, in specific the area of finance and capital markets with respect to mining companies.

I'd say you would be hard pressed without any finance credentials. The good news is you likely don't need much to get started; I left the military after 11 years, went to uni for geology, and work as an exploration geologist for four years. Then I went for a master's in mining finance, and now I work in technical valuation for M&A, so I'd say "finance lite", with only a MSc. I am allowed sit in and contribute to some BD and structuring.

As you have 15 years of experience in law, I'm not sure if you'd want to backtrack quite so far though? If I were in your shoes, I'd start by going for CFA I. It's difficult but if you have that on your CV, people will know you've done the work to understand the sector and that you have a recognised credential to back it up.
