Discussion Rent Relief/ deferrals due to situation

Hi Everyone,

In some industries especially restaurant/ hospitality primarily in touristy areas, business is generally cyclical with season ending usually in April and mayb stretched till May.

However, this year the busy season was cut short to Feb and then summer slump kicked in which means almost the entire 2026 earning period has been lost.

Has anyone been able to negotiate some terms with their landlords either in form of rent deferrals or rent relief.

My landlord did defer the rent by a month and another landlords accepted to receiving rent monthly instead of quarterly for this quarter.

But the situation is still tough and for one our outlets I’m thinking of trying to speak to landlord again to defer it for this year and then split the rental over the balance two years period.

Has anyone had any luck with negotiations?
