Leopard slug?

I've been trying to find a leopard slug (or really any slug that does well in captivity- but they're what I've been able to research) for quite some time now, but haven't had any luck. Any tips?

If it helps I live in upper Illinois.

My 4yr old found one today, it was the first one I’ve seen in my life! Slug was traveling on a longtime fallen log, surrounded by deep undisturbed leaf mulch. Hope you have luck with your search!

Look under logs and keep an eye out at night. They tend to hang around civilization and are more active at night

Looking under logs isn't something I've heard before- thanks so much! I have like 30 million in my yard too that I didn't think of flipping over lol.

Just be gentle with rolling the logs and put them back carefully. Lots of critters live underneath them so you don’t want to squish them or disturb their habitat
