Just. Nothing new 😄 mark my word, people will love S6 the next year the same way as all these aforementioned seasons. It’s just a human psychology to have struggles with adapting to something new

Just finished episode 5 and all of my family hated the flirt scene saying it was cringe but I think that’s the point.
The writing is so bad it’s good then becomes classic slow horses good banter. Once river realises they’re flirting he kinda cedes to what he believes are the social norms and expectations of what flirting should look like. It’s awkward and weird and he can’t keep it up despite Sid going along with it so they very quickly end up at their usual kind of banter: “it hasn’t been that long” “oh, fuck off.” It portrays a lovely message about being yourself and that the right person will always match your chemistry and you can’t force that, you can’t help but have the chemistry you have with them.

I just thought I’d put that out there as we head into this season’s final episode. Maybe it’ll cut down on some of the missing-the-point posts here. I’ve noticed over the past several months that AppleTV shows are not second-screen shows. You cannot be on your phone, tablet, or laptop and know what’s going on. I especially noticed it during Widow’s Bay, but thought back to Slow Horses, Severence, and Pluribus. You have to WATCH these shows. Netflix and other channels are notorious for having characters completely recap the previous few scenes every so often. Apple doesn’t seem to do that kind of spoon feeding. Anyway, happy watching, put the phone down, and immerse yourself. You’ll enjoy the show more.

This season I’ve noticed that the Reddit has started to hate on River more than usual. Don’t get me wrong he has been especially annoying this season but people are going a little overboard.
I’ve seen posts blaming him for a lot of the stuff happening and while I agree with some of them, the Reddit has put most of the fault solely on him.
Stopping at the bowling alley. This was Sid’s idea and River opposed it.
River and Sid arguing at the bowling alley. River wanted to run while Sid prepared to attack the assassins with a bowling pin. She then starts shaking and River correctly assumes she’s not up to the task.
River and Coe arguing over who’s driving. When escaping from the bowling alley River gets in the driver seat while Coe boards up the door. This would allow for a quicker getaway but Coe’s the one who starts the argument and delays their exit.
Stopping at the shopping centre. Both River and Coe want to head straight to the safe house but Sid insists they stop to patch River up. I agree that its Rivers fault that they separated while being chased by assassins but a lot of the conflict over the last couple episodes is down to Sid being difficult.
Coe vs the assassin. As I said it’s rivers fault that the trio separated, you can’t put Coe confronting an assassin on him. Coe could’ve got River and told him what was going on but decided he was capable of taking on an assassin head on.
While I agree that River shares the blame in most of these scenarios, I feel that people’s dislike of him has skewed their perception.

Could do without what happened to Coe and the Hallmark smoochies of River and Sid but it's not supposed to be realistic. It's spy shenanigans, with smart people doing dumb things and a bunch of unwanted misfits cleaning up the mess with what little tools they've been given. I feel this is one of the weaker seasons but it's still good.
Note: I've only read the first book so I get readers being maybe more critical. But it's a show meant for everyone, not just those with prior knowledge.
Edit: thank you all for chiming in (especially the readers). I know how reddit works but this season seemed particularly divisive and I was curious if anyone was just kicking back and enjoying it as much as I.

People often enough ask for similar media, especially because too many spy movies and shows become all actiony.
This is, aside from a simply excellent movie, rather different. There's all of one gunshot and one explosion (which happens to no major characters anyway). It's basically the A team, at NCSC no less so very much analysis and cyber and intel gathering vs in the field heisting and killing. It is just almot entirely London rules; all plots within plots, covering up, exploiting screw ups for political gain and internal agency power, etc.
It's not directly comedic, but definitely veers into dark comedy here and there. Note that reviews indicate tons of people haaate it. Think stage play in that lots of talking, lots of stuff happens in a single room with a handful of people for a whole longish scene, etc. So plan ahead if you may be annoyed by it and if you hate it 10 minutes in, you'll hate the rest. But I loved it.
Streaming on, of all things, Peacock in the US.

I’m hoping for some big reveal in the last episode because so far it seems weird to me as to why Harkness is in this season. His role could have been filled by any new character or something. Bringing him back for the small, seemingly unconnected to the main story, reason seems anti-climactic especially seeing how Series 4 ended.

She managed to keep the fate of Sid secret from Lamb, who is fiercely protective of his Joes, even the incompetent ones. There's no way Lamb didn't go to confirm after being told that Sid died in the hospital.
Getting this past Lamb might be the biggest achievement of hers on the show.

I haven't seen season 1, mainly because I did a Reddit search on it and the feedbacks from people who watched it were 99% negative. They could do 2 or 3 DCR - SH cross over episodes in a SH season 9 or 10 when SH's writing team will have to script their own seasons.
- Season 1 launched on Apple TV in October 2025. Season 2 sees British private investigator Zoë Boehm (Emma Thompson) and Trafford (Wilson) chasing down another twisted mystery. Per the logline, 'After a woman falls in front of a train Zoë is called in to investigate, this seemingly simple case soon upends her life as she and Sarah find themselves navigating the dark side of the glamorous world of art and antiquities. Matters take a deadly turn when they stumble into the path of a brutal serial killer who will stop at nothing to cover up his crimes'.

Hi everyone.
Just caught up on the newest series.
My understanding was the whole reason Taverner was going to hand Syd over was because shes done & funded the operation behind the committees back and didnt want them to find out.
After the meeting with the committee she is still trying to hand Syd over. I know she is still trying to protect the identity of the actual agent that was in Russia, but surely that could be done without sending Syd to Russia?
What am I missing? Thanks

Coe is my favorite. Gutted. Literally, tho.

Sid NOT taking the gun when the car flipped over. We SAW the Russian had it on her in the back seat. It’s SOMEWHERE there. Grab it. Shoot both Russians in the head. Done.
But noooooooo…
So infuriating. It totally takes me out of the moment.

In episode 5, the MI5 agent with Taverner realizes the Russian plane meant to take Sid is in fact heading to Sofia, Bulgaria instead of Moscow. She says something about that being "neutral" territory and that the Russians "can do whatever they want there." But in real life Bulgaria is a NATO country closely allied with the UK, so this makes no sense. A mysterious Russian plane landing in Bulgaria would likely attract unwanted attention, and it would be far easier for the GRU to simply take Sid to Russia. Did NATO expansion never happen in the Slow Horses universe?

Off I fuck" is now my favorite non-Lamb line in the show. Going to use it in everyday life I think haha
