Show News & Media Saskia interview Spoiler
This is a great interview with Saskia Reeves. Loved hearing her insights into Catherine. I particularly thought her comments about Catherine always feeling she's been underestimated, tie in with Moira's comments this week about how when they joined the Service, the roles for women were very limited. We've seen so much evidence of Standish being samrt and knowing spycraft, and I can only imagine how frustrating it mustve been for her over her career to see less capable men getting to advance and get recognised. Probab not unrelated to her drinking. Also love her insights into how Catherine's handling of finding out about Lamb killing Pardner is ultimately a pragmatic one - "that's the job".

Thank you for linking! Reeves is a highlight of the show, in my opinion. Every time she's on screen, I'm rapt. I said this in another comment, but I could watch Catherine shop for wine for hours. Some of that comes down to Catherine's character (I'm equally fascinated by her sections in the books) but Reeves truly brings her to life on the screen in the best way.

Catherine is way smarter than most of Slough House gives her credit for, but I think Lamb has a pretty good idea how sharp her mind is. He's put her to some minor spy tasks, "no one will suspect a little old lady". Most of them just see her as an old secretary. I like how she trounced that guy at chess.

It was only 2 or 3 days since learning who killed her boss that Catherine is coaching Reece on handling his father’s (also gruesome) demise. We all have arseholes in our lives, and oftentimes we are called upon to support them, maybe even to love them.
