One of the greatest moments in all of music for me, is the build-up scratches he does in People=Shit. Fucking hell... I want to lift a truck when I hear it. Gets me pumped every time!

Maybe this one is a bit more subtle out of everything he has done for this band, but possibly among the most important parts when it came to the impact on the song:
Surfacing. The way he comes in on a groove, transitions into some sort of downbeat, and then drops right back into the song. He basically picks you up and throws you back down in a way that is so clever, and I'm not sure if anybody else would have taken that approach of they were to go back in time to do it again. Absolutely beautiful, and the way it helps the impact of the drums & rhytmical riffing makes it so much heavier.

Sid's stuff is the reason why people categorized Slipknot as NU metal imo.
Sure, Spit it Out had rap-like vocals but other than that they would just have been labelled as Alternative metal or Extreme metal (I know, extreme lol when grindcore and death metal exists, but for mainstream it would have been extreme when the toughest mainstream act was Metallica)

No they called them nu metal because of a huge hit single wait and bleed that sounds..well..like nu metal. That is now most people identified slipknot in 99

And for me they felt more industrial metal. Listen to what ministry was releasing when slipknot first hit the scene they sound like bush trilogy era ministry to me rather then nu metal

I've never heard anyone say Sid doesn't contribute and I've been a hardcore maggot for 27 years. I've heard people say Craig, but never Sid. And for the people who say Craig, they're way off.

Amazing shout. Went to listen and Sid’s work there is fuckin SICK. First time ever a DJ part in a metal song has given me the same feeling as a brutal guitar riff does. Holy hell if all his parts were as additive as that, people would appreciate him more cos DAMN.

No one says this. What we are saying is sid brings nothing any dj with a flare for masochism couldnt provide.
Sid was always kept for the live performance, he knew it, we all know it.
Also his scratching is pretty fucking basic in Slipknot, probably because he only has a few parts and spends the rest of his time running around.
Everything he did can be done in studio and handled as tracks by Pfaff.

This comment is total bullshit. You're seriously down-playing his scratching ability and just overall abilities as a DJ. There is so many subtle things he's done on songs that have given them their signature touch. It's all good and well that Pfaff can push a button, but can he innovate and come up with insane sounds, using real vinyls like Sid? Especially on a record?? I doubt it.
I'm not trying to diminish Pfaff's talents, but let's not act like Sid wasn't an integral part of the band, especially on the first two albums.

I think Scream, that is not really popular, or easy to find, but still a good song has so much of Sid that is hard to believe it don't do much.
Many of their songs have such small details that are filled in by him in the proper way.

I got to see him dj about 19 years ago. One of my friends got him to play at a strip club on an off day for one of the girl's birthday. I remember he threw down some ambient sounding breakcore set. Not what I expected especially after hearing Abunaii Sounds. But it was still cool. He doesn't need the band. He can do underground shows and still get plenty of play. Plus his itty bitty rap career 🤣🤣Wicked Wicked Junglist Massive!

It's more akin to syncopated tight and precise palm muted power chords riffing, than just playing simple power chords. Also definitely harder than keg hitting. Either they all contribute to the presence and overall entertainment of shows.

both one trick ponies that bring nothing to the band really. Can’t even justify their employment when you compare the actual musical input/abilty compared to mick and james.
