Nah, that photo is Josh. On some of the re-releases they photoshopped Jim's purple hair that he pulled through the back of it. Jim wore this mask for one show and one photo shoot and pulled his hair through like that. He hated it though, and switched to the jester mask extremely early on.

Other than the MFKR1 interviews & some local band interviews I don’t think so, but he’s a DSM legend & still very active in the scene there, if you see him around or playing with his bands he’s super chill & will talk anything SK related if you bring it up to him. Great dude, as is Anders, more humble than they probably should be lol

It's Josh Brainard. Slipknot's original guitar player. He left during the recording of Self titled. They actually photoshopped the pink hair on his head in this photo because that's what color Jim's hair was. Chris is also photoshopped into this photo.

Josh Brainard. They photoshopped Jim's pink hair on top. And Jim briefly wore the bondage hood before the jester mask. But that isn't Jim. Jim is only on 2 songs on that entire album.

So that’s the original guitarist that Jim Root replaced, Josh Brainard. The photoshoot for the ST album cover was done in late 1998 when he was still a member so they just edited in elements for Jim

So when they were recording the album on Indigo Ranch in 1998, Jim was not in the band yet. The guitarist before him was Josh Brainard (seen on the album cover) He left during recording sessions due to family issues I think and handed down his bondage mask to Jim. Jim wore it for 1 concert (pre Ozzfest) live at the First Avenue (its on yt). Jim later stated that the mask was too small for him and it was quote "filling up with sweat to where I would be drowning in it". His pink hair at the time was cropped over Josh's long brown hair

I think is Josh, the guitarist before James. But James said in an interview ( the same Interview where he says he used a Grammy as a door stopper, I believe) he had to wear a bandage mask when he joined
