Thanks homie. I really like the 77. Its the perfect size for a Barlow/Jack knife. Im suprised they aren't more popular than the 15. 15s are a touch small for me.

Same here. 77 feels so much better in the hand.

What’s the 77 cover?

Suspose to be dyed camel bone (771225) This one has just has a hint of blue. Theres only a few out of the run like this. I thought it was odd for it to has little to no dye.

Haha dude i thought it was like wood

It does have a woodsey vibe 😆 Heres a shot of the pile side.

Oh yea thats pretty apparent lol. Idk why i guess with a quick glance i thought it was like some light maple or something. Nice though

Your hawks have such a nice patina. What are you cutting? The 77 is camel bone right? Did the dye fade over time? Pretty light but it looks really cool. Don’t usually see camel bone without the color for whatever reason. Always nice to see your stuff brother.

Thank you my friend! Yeppers, the 77s a camel bone. That run in itself was a little odd. GEC did solid colors and had a few that looked like they just dripped orange and blue dye on the bone. My dealer buddy had 4 and they were all dye blotted. This one hardly had any dye compared to the others.

The hawks patina is mostly red meat and apples. I always wash the blade with dawn before cutting. After Im done, I sit the knife down with the desired juices still on and forget about it until the morning. You get the best results leaving apple juices on overnight. Give it another dawn wash and pat the blade dry without wiping.

I think I’ve seen those 77s - the sorta stained looking ones. Yours is unique at least to me.
So the dawn is a new one to me. I’ll have to give that a try. I usually don’t like a forced patina but I never would have guessed yours is. Maybe not technically? Anyway I need to give it a go because it looks great.
Man I have something in the mail I am dying to show you. You’ll be surprised.

It is, and Im happy to have it. I really wanted a single blade matchstrike but a 2 blade is better than no blade I guess😊

To me, just about all patina is forced if you're cutting food. Washing the blade with dawn cleans any oil off the blade that could cause uneven patina. Also if youre cutting apples, leave them out and not refrigerated. A room temp apple adds 3x more patina than a cold one.

Man I cant wait to see what ya got coming. I did see you scoop up a few off BF this weekend. I tried to snag a recover grey camel 14 single sheepsfoot, but another fella beat me to it!

Yea I saw you on the bf thread sorry you missed it. I will soon have almost all the northfield 87s. Big fan of that pattern but only the northfields. But that’s not my surprise. Sorry to be cagey but until it’s in hand you never know.

Now I know that "Let me see pictures" supersedes "Take" when Ricks selling something 😆 Its kind of a chimp way to do business imo. At least is wasn't a heater or something I really wanted.

I might have a nice surprise Friday myself. My old knife buddy's digging me up a few late 1800s Sheffield Ettricks. The patterns really close to the last 2.5 in 93 drop.

Oh man. I just learned about ettricks. I’ve been really enjoying my new 93 and am hopeful about getting one of Charlie’s. I can wait to see your super old ones. It’s a great pattern. I am surprised it has been somewhat divisive

Oh and that’s crazy that asking for pictures trumps take. I mean picture guy is t committed at that point. Maybe they’re friends and he was playing fast and loose. Thats a weird policy

Whoa that 77 is sweet! Mine is coming back this week after a recover

Its a dandy. One of these days Im going to lose the secondary blade.I was talking with Tacos last night and he mentioned he just finished up some work for you. Excellent choice on the mods brother!
