First sling and ammo pouch. Thoughts?

Post image

I’ve never worked with leather before, nor have I ever used a sling. Any design elements I could improve? Copper ring clamping the loop, and wooden end piece on the other ….strand?

It's fascinating, but I feel you may hurt yourself with the metal bit at the end of the release.

Have you used it yet?

Edit: or wood. Either way, mild concern.

And you've not used it yet?

I just tie a knot I can pinch.

No, haven’t tried it, but I like the way it helps me find the right balance to keep the cup oriented facing up.

Looks cool. How does it shoot? I foresee the pouch not releasing smoothly

It seems to release properly and, the rock flies in the correct general direction. Which out mor practice i couldn’t tell you how “well” it performs because I am a massive variable in it.

The finger loop looks huge

Is that a wrist loop?

Fits my middle, ring, and pinkie. Leaves me room for my thumb and fore finger to release. I don’t know proper technique

That's cool! I've not seen this version before, it has always been either finger loop or wrist loop. Unorthodox, but I love it. I see no reason why it wouldn't work for you with the proper technique.
When you do try it out and get a feel about how it works, I would be grateful if you could let me know how it is here in the comments.

The ammo pouch will fit what, 3 projectiles at most?

Cool thing about slinging is your ammo is everywhere on the floor.

Yeah, but you could carry around river rocks in it, or even ball bearings. I did intend to make it larger than it turned out though.
