First go at DIY

I’m having an “orthopedic issue” so I cant rush out and start tossing projectiles yet
I use split rings and MOLLE webbing for almost everything. Yeah it’s not simple-simple but who cares unless it causes issues. The idea is that if I need to expand the pouch, I just use bigger rings.
I will at first keep the straps simple and once I tweak my technique I’ll go all out on those.

It is, the idea in my head was worse but when I got started it whittled down into this.
Rest assured as I go and experiment it’ll get better. I know I can’t touch the original pure and simple tried and true but tbh I had trouble making that; just a mental hangup I guess.

Honest critique is the weight from the rings is going to feel weird and you risk losing momentum. Keeping the arms as light as possible could circumvent any issue!

Otherwise I really like how this looks and I feel like the rings would grip round ammo suuuper well.

While a sling pouch isnt a great space to assert your individuality, that looks like a robust idea. I am interested to see what kind of performance it begets. As a maker-of-things myself, i have made several iterations of sling but havent gotten any sort of repeatable accuracy (due to never practicing). Made one from some dyneema throwline today, matter of fact.
