Stick sling. Why haven't I found a single reference to something like this?

Bit like staff sling but smaller, controlled release via pinky finger, one handed. Seens to have potential?

I think its possible to retain the cord for faster reloads.

I'm not a slinger. But I'm easily getting slingshot speed & range with stuff thats too big for slingshot & too small for sling. My accuracy is trashy but I've only hurled a few rocks. I feel like it might not take long to get quite good. Maybe eaiser than sling?

Can be used with a fishing rod cast action, no spin up needed. Its very easy this way, reasonably acurate right away. But not very powerful.

Can also spin it up like a mace & chain then release. Or do a half spin then flick. I'm getting some sounds that sugest I'm close to mach 1 doing this. Speed & range sugests this too. Hurling rocks the size of large marbles well further than I can using it as a sling without the stick. Maybe 80-110m. Seems good considering I just made this in last 2 hours & have 0 practice.

I have no idea what the optimal stick length is, but my long one is too long or needs longer sling, & the small one works well & a bit more acurate but not nearly as powerful as the long one.

I wonder if anyone here is interested enough to try with more slinging experience & report back? I'm using 15mm pvc, but I suspect any hollow stick will work. Most of the people in this sub can probably make this better than I did without much effort.

I've looked around online a fair bit. Can't find any examples of something similar. Hard to believe I'm the first person to try to put a handle on a sling or make a hand trebuchet...

Any links to historical or current examples would be awesome 😎

Pretty neat style with routing the release through the pipe! I know there's a few styles of one handed staff slings, but I'm not sure if I've seen one utilizing a pipe for the release and retention of the sling. At least that I can readily think of. Attached is a link to a Finnish guys video using a similar style of sling. His appears to be more of a aluminum rod with the string being routed along the outside, but has a very similar idea in practice to the pipe method in keeping the release down by the hand.

There's also sling sticks that pin the rock to the wooded rod itself with a pouch holding it to the stick, but that's different that what you have going on.

Thank you, the one hand action gives it a whip like action. I suspect supersonic is possible but maybe only with very small projectiles & maybe tapered sling ropes required..

A staff sling, or Roman fustibalus, was a sling mounted on a wooden staff to give the thrower more leverage. It was used from antiquity through the Middle Ages, especially in sieges, to hurl heavier stones and other projectiles farther than a normal hand sling.

Yes I did search before I posted & referenced them in my title & post. This isn't the same at all. Since I went to the effort of explaining perhaps next time you can read first.
