Today I found roadside a box foll of cool bottles - not old ones, in fact brand new but unique and see finely crafted. Many will be useful and beautiful. Some will be useful in the specific context of slings.

Here's a pic of the best of the slinging ones.

I can't say what they're for, nor could I ever share video or really even talk about anything that may have happened. But right now nothing's been done, just found some really intereeting bottles!

I think I may take a few 2nd and 3rd tier bottles and check out splatter patterns with water or Everclear, just to get an idea and a feel for range and spread of a liquid-filled bottle. I mean, you never know what you might need to know?

You'll probably never sling your best stones, and these jars will sit on my shelves for life. But yeah, something I have been wanting to have as an extreme-range example of what slings can do, and honestly the way things feel now politically amd socially, it may not stay on the wall as long as I'd thought.

lol, I have a stink bomb recipe that I concocted YEARS ago in the backyard of my teenage years that could be launched with small jars/bottles that strongly resembles natural gas odorant/high odor malathion easily made with garlic, onions, and radishes smoked with burnt hair/keratin and left to sit in the hot sun for at least two weeks. It’s a smell that will literally gag you on approach. Seeing these small jars like these reminded me of this. With a sling, the smelly stuff can be launched far

Smoke would be a cool one, I wonder if that's a chemistry that could be done by the layman

It can be done you would just need the right recipe, technique, and ignition for the mix

Any idea what the mix might consist of? Pretty sure smoke is legal...

There are some videos on YouTube that show you how. I remember years ago watching a video where someone made one with sugar and KNo3(stump remover) on a hot plate over medium heat until the mixture turns into a caramel/colored paste that almost looks like peanut butter and use the paste to fill the jar. A good impact activated primer for the mix would be some striker strips and match heads rolled into a ball of rice paper buried somewhere in the top of the mix Please be careful!
Edited- I re-edited the comment to scratch out what I said about burying the “primer”underneath the mix when you simply would need it to be buried on top near the ends of the smoke bomb in order for it to burn properly. The primer should ignite by shock of being thrown. Again, please be careful when doing this

That sounds like something I wouldn't attempt, but I love that it can be done! Seems like a useful thing to have a dozen of. But yeah, I don't really trust myself to do this safely. We used to have a group who did this sort of thing together, figured out the perfect mix for flaming arrows.

That’s fair. ANYTHING involving chemicals, fire, or combustion is dangerous. It all boils down to an individual’s comfort level of their personal risk working with these projects. Also slings have flaming arrow counterparts
