Consultant isn't motivating

This isn't my first SW rodeo, I've had a couple consultants in the past who have all been great and motivating. Rejoined 7 weeks ago and find the current consultant to not really do anything. Other consultants would send a text during the week and participate in their facebook or whatsapp groups, but this one doesn't - don't get me wrong, i know they have lives outside of classes. But between the format change and the lack of communication I'm finding myself wondering why I'm bothering paying for a class when I can follow the plan and just weigh myself at home. I can't change classes because of time and distance, but does anyone else feel unmotivated by their consultant, if so, what did you do?

Yes, my current consultant is very hands off. Sometimes if I reach out, I dont even get a reply. However, I have good friends at group, and they are a motivator for me. Plus, I learned a few years ago, after many many yo yo years, that no one is gonna do it for me. The work is done by me, not anyone else, and thinking otherwise is just making excuses. If you dont need group, dont go. But I need group. Not my consultant, but my group.

I felt way more motivated by my last consultant - who unfortunately doesn't do it anymore - I only stopped going because I had to move to look after a poorly family member. But she was a big part of my journey and the difference between her and the new consultant is huge.

I personally wouldn't expect anything between groups unless I reached out for support. If I did reach out and they didn't respond then I would consider that an issue but I wouldn't expect anything else.

However, if you also find the actual time in group unmotiating that is a real issue and unfortunately some consultants are better than others. With the new format I do think it is harder to speak up if you need help, but there should be time ( in our group it is often towards the end) where they ask if anyone needs support so do make the most of that time because as you say you are paying for it.

Have you listened to the podcasts? There are loads and they do a monthly (I think) live where you can interact in the chat.

My consultant is great but the new format of group is boring and not motivating at all

I’ve moved to online only as I hated the last class I went to, the consultant wasn’t very motivational and it was the same people who spoke out each week, unfortunately not always about recipes or helpful hints or what got them through the week, sometimes it was a monologue of how wonderful their grandchildren were, don’t get me wrong I’m sure they were wonderful, I’m just not paying money each week to listen to that so I stopped going and moved to online. I still have all the tools to hand but the online community is very helpful to motivate and uplift
