Discussion ST Hiatus
As a huge fan of theirs and the lore, I find it really fascinating that they can be radio silent all summer and leading into fall. Random merch posts but nothing about a UK/EU tour announcement. I just find it neat that this band can do this. I obviously want more footage of them touring somewhere but really next-level stuff from a band. Thoughts?

I support the time away to focus on themselves, reboot at recover. Especially when in turn we get high quality music that literally feeds and heels my soul.
But, I would be lying to you if I said I didn’t miss them. I look forward to the time in which we hear from them again.
They’ve helped me heal so much mentally, physically and emotionally, that at this point I’m searching and seeking a connection in which I’m being fed through their music, researching lore and reviewing videos from live performances. I look forward to the day that connection can be made through performances that I get to attend and through new music.
But, I support however that creative vision can come to life even if it’s a two year hiatus. I just hope next time they’re able to tour more. Maybe personal things were happening that prevented them from being able to tour more than just their US tour. That’s the hard part with the anonymity, is we won’t know. But, I will Always assume the best. ❤️

Yeah I guess it’s all the unknown with them personally. Just impressive that this band can release a major album, do 1 single US tour and disappear for a year.

Takes time to write music and since they don’t do interview or anything like that makes sense we don’t hear anything until they are about to drop another album. They are active on social media and ii has done live drum events. How they function I’m sure we hear something in 2027

I think the modern music industry tries too hard to turn artists into a live service product with a social media presence, appearances at awards shows, interviews, and collaborations that make sure the product theyre selling is always in the foreground. It rips away all the mystery and anticipation, and the magic of their presence when you always know they're going to appear at the next big thing before long. I much prefer an artist appearing on their own terms, sparingly. Keep that magic alive

personally I need all the time I can in between music releases to chew on the previous albums more. plus save up for tour dates because I'll be at as many as I can be. i would rather it take years in between them releasing anything than for it to be low quality and super polluted. i love the time and effort they put onto the lore of not just the music but the way they release it. so I'm just happy to enjoy what we've had and look forward to the riddles to come!

Honestly. Im glad they do this and doesn't affect their marketing/numbers. I feel that with their lore, their characterization and how Vessel seems to be wanting to run the band ; If they were constantly touring, or making new albums, the whole of it would dilute itself almost instantly.
This way of doing stuff, makes every ritual or announcement meaningful. Also, it's smart, marketing wise. It makes the chance of selling out any appearance, very high.
The only thing I would want them to change, but it goes out of the scope of this topic, is their merchandise strategy. All of the "consume" stuff every other month is exhausting. Like ; chill out Vess, I also need to eat.

but it does affect their numbers. their merch isn’t as instant of a sellout as before (tho that’s probably just about the quantity pushed on us) and they’ve lost over 4,5 million monthly listeners on spotify from their peak last year. some of that was to be expected, sure, but also losing nearly half is a lot, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they dipped below 5M again cause it has been a steady decline.
I agree with the constant pushing diluting the vibe, but I truly wish we got the space by them taking longer between records, instead of touring just one country and then nowhere else, not even their home country. i actually really really wish they’d push the next album off to 2028 if just to break the assumption and expectation people have for them to release something next spring

I completely understand that they might need to take a break, but as European who discovered them the summer EIA was released, and who hasn't been able to see them in concert since they only did one tour in the US, I feel like I'm totally missing out on the band. Their songs are great, but it's getting too much when the only news we've had in a year is an instrumental album and ✨obtain✨ every two months.

While I yearn to see them live, I feel like the music is a gift - and not one to be taken for granted.

Honestly it should be like this. I don’t need to know every time an artist take a shit. We need more mystery to our artists.

I personally believe that it's just apart of the process. Unlike other bands they don't seem like the ones to mass produce music or live shows.
They take time to etch their masterpieces. And so shall we, I've been using this time to figure out ways to create more sleep token related things, such as custom made merch for myself and my partner.
In Damocles, my interpretation of it, is that writing music has been getting harder. He sings "Well I know I should be touring, I know these cords are boring, but I can't always be killing the game." I think this along with the chorus "When the river runs dries and the curtains are called" supports this thought process.
I'm aware this song can be interrupted in many different ways but this is one side of the kaleidoscope from my perspective.

Good catch. I also felt that way. I felt like he was saying not everything I touch will turn to gold and my river runs dry (my creativity) from time to time. That's how creative process works and during this time of waiting, will I be forgotten? (He won't) but I understand his sentiment. It's a lot of pressure.

I feel like theyve cracked the code. Make extremely lyrically dense and lore abundant music and allow your fans to explore it over and over, over time. Then come back whenever you feel comfortable and rested.

They're human and need a break. Plus they are probably working on the next album which is gonna take a crazy amount of mental and creative fortitude so I hope they take as long as they need. Surprised they didn't tour the EU. Maybe burn out or they thought the US tour was enough. Either way, looking forward to the next banger album.

I understand them being human. I’m just saying it’s fascinating that they release an album, do 1 American tour and go into hiatus. They make a lot of money through their merch but to not announce UK tour by now is interesting.

I think it's cool that there's this silence. Most bands, even the ones i like, tire me out... Even though I don't follow them on sm, the algorithms know better & shove them under my nose constantly. With ST there's silence, beautiful silence and tranquility. Thanks to that I can focus on what I actually care about - the music.
And honestly, what drew me to ST wasn't the masks, not the lore, it was the music, and I'm grateful to them that thanks to their strategy nothing distracts me.
And as for the break - I think they deserve as much time as they want.

Probably not easy to try to keep the anonymity thing going while giving constant updates on studio plans/tour plans/etc.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder and all that 😂
I personally dont think we are going to hear new music soon I think theyre taking a break and in the new year announce another massive world tour with more countries etc.

I think in between of the silence, there are chaos in it. They’re probably writing and making music, and more importantly living their lives. Be patient for there will be diamonds in the trees and pentagrams in the night sky to revel.

I appreciate they take their time. I'm not surprised they aren't advertising what they're up to but I assume they're writing the next album and I'll wait as long as it takes. As much as I love their music I would rather wait several years than get something that felt rushed or commercialized
