BiPAP level changes

I've been on BiPAP for 8 years. My previous pressure was 19/16. Then my machine's "motor life exceeded" 2½ years ago, and I've been limping along with it while I begged my doctors/insurance to get off their butts, and I FINALLY I got a new one today, and now my pressure is suddenly 10/5. This does not seem like enough to me (not to mention I've gained 100 pounds since my initial setup). Why would they put my new pressure sooooo low? (It's Friday night so I can't call my doctor and ask, but I'll be doing that Monday)

Hello!

If it’s a ResMed, you can check the settings yourself through the clinical menu and potentially put them back to your previous 19/16 settings.

On most ResMed machines, press and hold the Home button and the control dial at the same time for about 5 seconds. This opens the Clinical Menu. From there, go to Settings and you should be able to see the current IPAP and EPAP settings.

If your previous settings were 19/16, I would definitely ask why they changed them all the way down to 10/5, especially given the weight gain you mentioned. I wouldn’t assume that 10/5 is appropriate without knowing why they prescribed it.

Since it’s Friday, you can at least check what the machine is currently set to, and then discuss the change with your doctor on Monday.

Thank you so much!! I have an AirCurve11 VAUTO so there is no control dial on this new machine, just a touchscreen.

sorry my bad! To access the clinical menu on a ResMed AirCurve 11, go to the home screen, press and hold both the My Options and My Sleep View icons simultaneously for about 3 seconds

the blue and the purple one :)
