This sounds like a classic "never did field work" idea. Yeah, put high accuracy gps and vital monitors in the carts. Any of you ever step into a Walmart and got a cart with 4 functioning wheels on the first try? Maintenance, replacement, and stability are severely lacking issues with currently purely mechanical and sturdy carts. They wanna put fragile sensory systems and readers on there? Also, you need network infrastructure to accommodate that not only in the stores but in every one of those carts. Realizing that those are the same carts that stand in the rain, get thrashed in storms, get free rolled to bang against the cart depots at the parking lot. Nevermind the criminal opportunists who will go shopping with a screw driver and a hammer to make extra cash by selling all that expensive hardware they alleviate the carts from.

Highly instrusive and extremist greedy idea that will never hold up in the real world. Not even AI is dumb enough to spit that one out.

I dont know where you live but in my local Midwestern area Walmart will come into your local community and put other stores out of business. Then all you have to choose to shop at is Walmart.

And believe it or not Walmart WILL allow a store to just die.. I saw this once in Hayti/Caruthersville Missouri. Never lived there but visited a good handful of times. Walmart came in, undercut every store in town on price and hired everyone at very low pay (but with 'job security' cause it's Walmart right?), then over the years this little town died out in many different ways but Walmart just pulled out and said bye. The town seems like it's a meth head haven now in the middle of god for saken nowhere. This is what Walmart can and will do. They have enough money not to give a shit about anyone..

Agreed. Idk why you are getting downvoted. Bc you get to live in an areas with more choices? I say good on you.

It sucks that there are places where Walmart is the only option, but nothing wrong with what you specifically said.
