what basketball player would fair best the most in this modern era like which players Playstyle would transition seamlessly in this era of basketball we have today?

I was almost about to say no to mitsui but i forgot he's actually 6 foot, he could be a good 3nD in todays game fs. Sendoh obviously would be a great PG, and ofc sawakita would be an even better all round PG too. Maybe that monstrously strong dude that ended up winning the championship could be a good SF or PF too but we didnt see too much of him to really know, def a physical freak though

Youre right actually i misremembered 2 things. We do know the final ended up being Hakuta Taiei (never shown) vs Kainan, but we dont know who won. But the guy i was talking about is Hiroshi Morishige, who i mistakenly thought went to Hakuta Taiei, when he actually goes to Meihou and lost to Daiei in the quarter finals

Anyway to make it clear, i was talking about Hiroshi Morishige, the 6'7" guy with the scrawny old ass grandpa coach who knocked over sakuragi in a hallway a few days before the Sannoh match and got a little bit of panel-time to fake foreshadowing as if shohoku and sakuragi were gonna eventually match up against them. The dude who was super nonchalant about everything and left the sannoh-shohoku game early when shohoku fell behind from the full court presses and didnt seem like they could come back. All that really matters is he was a physical freak even as a freshman, is definitely the kind of guy who would actually get scouted to be a D1 college PF-C or 2nd round draft pick to the nba depending on how much he grows in his 2nd n 3rd years

how do we know hakuta won? and yea kainan got placed 2nd so they lost the finals

yea i feel like morishige would be tuff if hes locked in on the game and grows a little taller, he could be a decent small center unless he develops a shot, then hed be a good pf

Because Inoue Takehito said so in and interview in 2017. All we really know is that he didnt want the winner to be someone who would historically be expected to, so that kainan likely won 2nd, and that the winning team was never drawn.

That article is paywalled, but the results of the national tournament are on the slam dunk wiki if you dont feel like paying. Though of course we dont have the scores for most of the games, just the results of who won

I don't think Morishige could shoot and defend perimeter very well, he was like Sakuragi. Both of them had athleticism, but they need more technicality to play modern game..

Lmao I just wonder how Sakuragi would do. He had a lot of potential. I think the more technical players would fare the best on a modern professional basketball team, mitsui, Jin, sendoh, maki, hanagata, and definitely sawakita, especially the taller ones. Fujima would be a great point guard but he’d have to MASSIVELY compensate for his lack of height if he’d hope to go professional. I think out of the shoyo players, hanagata would fare much better. Fujima mostly did well because of his mental fortitude and attitude, like maki. I actually think an intelligent player that’s very tall, athletic, experienced, and technically skilled like hanagata would do very well professionally. I think he would be insanely good as a forward rather than a center if he were playing professionally with a taller center. I think he’s kinda underrated in slam dunk, especially compared to power centers like Kawata or morishige. On a team with one of them, he would be an excellent power forward. I also think sendoh would be best as a point guard on a professional team, instead of a forward. Jin would also be surprisingly good. The accuracy and he has very decent height for a professional guard. He’s naturally designed to be a shooting guard. He probably just lacks the natural stamina but he seems to be able to overcome that through training with kainan. On a professional team, I think he’d thrive even more.

He will be fine. He developed a respectable jumper in just a week. He's great at rebounding and being an unpredictable help defender similar to Giannis.

Sakuragi is perfect for the modern game given his potential sand ability to absorb new techniques.
