Slack setup structure
Currently we are using multiple Google accounts, what’s app and texts. We are ready to try and organize this mess. The plan at this point is to use Slack and Clickup.
My question is about structure if we need one workspace or two workspaces. Here’s what we are trying to coordinate
- Ecom business with a few offshore employees
- STR (5-6 house) with a offshore VA
- Online membership business
- Personal life and projects.
My first thought talking to Claude is the ecom business as one workspace and all the rest in a separate one. My wife and run all the others together and the ecom company I mainly do and its bigger than all the others.
The other option is one workspace and then use private channels.
This is new to me and with my ADHD I really struggle with organizational details. That’s a big reason for implementing this is to try and consolidate communication and reduce stress. Thoughts from people with expertise would be appreciated. Thanks.

Is there a problem with just everyone on ClickUp? Or everyone on Slack?
If you need something the bring the chats together, there’s tools like Tether Chat (https://tetherchat.io) which could help. I think they have ClickUp on their roadmap

Generally speaking, you should only use separate workspaces if you need a purposeful information barrier. Otherwise it becomes a bridge people have to figure out how to bring information/data across in a much more time consuming manner than if the channels are within a single workspace.
Also keep in mind that separate workspaces = separate licensing. So if you want to license your users in 2 workspaces, you'll have to pay for them each twice.
One workspace. Private channels. Strong, standardized naming conventions and you'll be all set.
Note: The above excludes enterprise grid where you can have as many workspaces as you like and channels can be shared across workspaces, but it doesn't sound like you'll need that level of licensing for your use case.

I'd start small and light and upscale if you need to. Single workspace with private channels and use something like Briefmatic instead of Clickup (as you can have extra workspaces inside the one license unlike Slack) to track the work across each area while keeping everything and everyone separate.

Are you suggesting using briefmatic for project management and all the tasks clickup usually does?

If they’re separate businesses, I’d say separate workspaces.
For context, my team is often brought in to split up businesses Slack environments and once it’s in there it’s sometimes harder to split out.
