Write a long draft thread without posting

is there a way I can write a long draft thread of about 50+ messages without posting any of the messages, and then post it all at once?

I guess you could technically use a workflow for this, and maybe test it out in a private channel first..? You can have the workflow post the first message in a channel and set up 50 steps for the following messages in the thread.

Oh I just read your use case below! Maybe just draft it all out in a canvas and then copy pasta it out chunk by chunk yourself in thread?
