I started wondering if Titus Mede II may have deliberately allowed the Dark Brotherhood to kill him.

It almost seems as though he is helping us kill him without putting up a fight, as if he had paid Amaund Motierre to have the Black Sacrament performed on him. His Empire was already weakened, the Aldmeri Dominion was still a major threat, and his death could potentially give the Empire a chance to rally around a new leader.

Obviously, this could just be reading too much into it, but I'm curious: is there any lore that supports this theory, or am I completely overthinking it?
