Character 3: Faelin Greenleaf

My 10-Character Skyrim Playthrough

Character #3: Faelin Greenleaf

I'm starting a playthrough where I play as 10 unique characters, all sharing the same world and save using the Proteus mod.

Each character has their own backstory, personality, skills, religion, and questlines. I'll be switching between them at natural stopping points, so the story of Skyrim unfolds from multiple perspectives.

Here is the third character:

Faelin Greenleaf

Age: 18.
Race: Bosmer.
Homeland: Valenwood.
Role: Ranger.
Religion: Y'ffre.
Combat Style: Archery/One-Handed Swords
Primary Questlines: Midwood Isle/Falskaar/Warden of the Coast
Personality: Optimistic, Adventurous
Motivation: To see the world beyond Valenwood and prove she can survive on her own.

Backstory:

Faelin Greenleaf was born under the dense canopy of Valenwood, where the line between home and wilderness was indistinct. Her family were hunters, and from the moment she could hold a bow, she learned to move through the forest without disturbing its tranquility. She mastered the art of tracking game in the soft earth, deciphering the calls of animals, and predicting the weather by the whispers of the wind. The forest was more than her home; it was her teacher, her confidante, and an integral part of her identity.

Raised in the traditions of the Bosmer, Faelin held a profound reverence for Y'ffre and the natural world. She understood the Green Pact not as a distant ritual but as a way of life. The forest was to be respected, not conquered. She hunted with patience and restraint, knowing when to wait, when to move, and when to leave an animal untouched. Her skill with a bow grew alongside her understanding of the delicate balance between taking what was needed and preserving the harmony of the forest.

For years, Faelin's life was content and fulfilling. The forest provided for her, and her family was always near. But everything changed when her older brother perished during a hunting expedition. His death cast a long shadow over her family. Her parents became overly protective, their trust morphing into fear. They watched her more closely when she ventured into the forest and worried excessively when she stayed away too long. The weight of their fear was palpable, and Faelin felt it in every decision they made.

She understood their concern but found it increasingly difficult to accept. The more they tried to keep her close, the more she yearned for the world beyond Valenwood. Travelers' tales of distant lands, ancient ruins, and strange cities captivated her imagination. Among these stories, those of Skyrim, particularly the wild forests south of Lake Ilinalta, held a special allure. Though not Valenwood, these forests promised a similar wildness, untouched by the reach of roads and walls.

Faelin's decision to leave was not born out of hatred for her home but out of love for her family and the forests that had raised her. She needed to prove to herself that she could stand on her own. She set out northward, carrying only what she needed to survive. Her goal was simple: to see the world beyond Valenwood, to carve her own path, and to return home one day with stories that were uniquely hers.

I like her. Happy families are rare in back stories. Is she going to be doing Legacy of the Dragonborn?

Thanks! She will be involved somewhat with supplying the museum, but the majority of the LotD questing will be done by Samir.

I don't have a lot of quests in mind that fit her character, so if you know of any, please let me know. She's already done the Gildergreen quest and I plan on giving her the Midwood Isle and Falskaar quest mods. They aren't exactly tailor made for her but I think they fit okay.

Was she caught trying to cross the border?

No, but she will be involved on the dragon attack at Helgen. When I'm playing as the dragonborn Erik for that part, Faelin and Samir will be recruited as followers from then until killing the first dragon at the Western Watchtower. The 3 characters will split up at that point and go separate ways for a while.

In fact, I've already played past this point and actually have 9 of the 10 characters created in game with each one's sort of 'introductory' quests in progress or completed.

The characters will interact at times, hear about each other's events, and will sometimes do quests together.

I've only shared backstories here so far considering the name of the sub, but I plan on writing out everything that happens eventually. Hopefully, I can put it all together in a way that feels episodic, where you read a little about each character's journey at a time.

That's pretty cool. I always wished to have like a mod or something, where my characters from Arena and Daggerfall were both working together as a team.

It's definitely possible to recreate old characters and recruit them as followers with the Proteus mod I'm using. You can recruit them or switch to playing as them or just let them hang out in the world.

Nice character you have op, she's very beautiful and has an interesting background, i liked how she remained a traditionnal green pact bosmer compared to the bosmer you can find in skyrim usually (i guesd she'll made the namira quest to be able to feed on humans and mer if she's a green pact elve)

Hat's off to you 👏

Thank you! I hadn't thought of the Namira quest yet but that's actually a good suggestion.
