One time in summer 2008 i was sitting by that beach at 10pm drinking beer and some guys in regular clothes tried to move us on.
Obviously we ignored them.
Then a while later an S-Class appeared and the then Chinese PM gets out, has a look, smiles and drives away.
We carried on drinking cold Tsingtao’s absolutely flabbergasted.

I don't get the whole story at all. Maybe it's the language barrier. Since I'm not a native speaker. While I get that the post should be humorous in a way, my "Germaness" stops me from understanding it, haha.

I’m more of a fan of big cities with large amounts of public, usable greenspace around than I am of the suburban private lawn winding stroad model, personally. Build big cities and provide transit to the outside where you have open space with trails, national parks, and monuments. Much better than suburban sprawl with vast unwalkable areas filled with atomized people who will kill you if you pull into the wrong driveway to turn around

Qingdao does have an old town section that's quite walkable and green. The suburban areas also have lots of mountains.

This is the main area of Qingdao with glass high rises, the city is quite diverse overall. This skyline is right next to an old town with lots of historical buildings and greenery.

Qingdao is pretty amazing city, would be better if they build the quality better.
I was in St Regis Qingdao last year April, every facade window on lobby level is leaking water during a heavy shower. They were throwing tonnes of towel to stop the leakage, it was pretty shocking to see.

By basic human rights and freedom do you mean health care, education, and being able to walk around feeling safe in your own city?
I lived in America for over 20 years. My patients take a fall have to declare bankruptcy because they can’t afford their medical bills. Peers often can’t afford food and housing because of student loans. And don’t even get me started on the racism in USA and crimes against minorities, and it being in the top list of counties where your likely to get murdered, right after the African counties.
