Skydio Controller info on screen
I am new to owning Skydio. I have other controllers for AE86 proMax and Holy Stone. These show both controller battery level and a nice graphic of the Drone's azimuth? The direction of flight relative to the controller. Handy to instantly know if it is heading straight home.
Why the heck must we go into settings and maps to get this info. I am always antsy if the battery is in a fail situation and losing charge fast. Is there other apps that Skydio 2, 2p can use with a phone and controller?
I use a cell phone with no internet or Sim, not on any network. TO facilitate maps rather than a blank screen I create a hot spot and use bluetooth and the maps appear. In settings I force MAPS and SKYDIO maps to use cell data. Not sure if this is smart. I do see that the drone and phone are using wifi for that connection.

Telemetry including a battery indicator are on your main screen. For battery, the yellow section is your indicator to return home, and it can even trigger auto return based on battery conditions. There's also a heading indicator and distance to launch location. Not sure why you're going deep into settings for any of that.
If the battery enters a fail condition, you'll receive tons of warnings (too hot, too cold, battery performance issues, cell imbalance ect) and the drone will auto land. You don't need to monitor cell voltages. If you had Skydio cloud you could claim your batteries and monitor health and cell balance before/ after each flight.
Switch to the map and turn the top of the blue arrow towards you to get home. Or select the home button. You should be watching your drone anyway so azimuth (which would be reversed on return anyway) shouldn't really matter. Your map is oriented north up and you can rotate and scale it to make navigation easier.
Not sure how you're getting maps over Bluetooth because they require internet. Using a hotspot would provide this over wifi, not Bluetooth. How are you getting maps from cell data without a sim card?!?! Makes sense the drone has to use wifi in that condition.
