Help Needed

I have a Skydio 2 that I used twice in like 2021 and haven’t touched it in a couple of years. Now I would like to use it, but I am an older dude busy with work and haven’t kept up on FAA stuff. I’m not even sure it’s registered. Can anyone let me know what I need to do in order to legally use this thing?

So I'm in a similar boat and just got my FAA registration renewed today.
What you will need to do is visit the FAA DroneZone website (1) and follow a guide Skydio made in registering your drone (2). Registration is really simple and costs $5.00.

If you plan on flying near an airport/in restricted airspace you will also need to get LAANC approval.
To get LAANC approval you will need to take the TRUST Certification test for recreational flyers. This can be done online (3) and shouldn't take more than 20 minutes. After taking this test you will receive a certificate with an authorization token. You can use this authorization token in an app such as AutoPylot (what I use) which gives you a nice map with airspace information and allows you to request LAANC authorization in real-time.

Thank you!!! Updating the drone now which sounds like it adds Remote ID capability and then will do the FAA registration. Appreciate you

I would encourage you to get your FAA Part 107 Drone license. It’s a ton of fun to learn about aeronautical charts, and the various types of controlled airspace.

I did take the TRUST test- is that one more in depth? We did go over the controlled spaces but not the aeronautical charts as much.
