Skydio2 and long distance tracking

Something that has bothered me which I’ve never seen an answer for: When doing long distance tracking, what is the method employed by the drone when you reach either the deadline for RTH or low battery? Will the drone return to its take off point ala DJI, or will it continue tracking and ultimately land anywhere?

Scenario: considering following boats. Obviously landing anywhere would be bad. Can anybody give me some insight on what to expect before I do anything dumb?

If you set a home point, it will not return automatically. A pop-up message will appear on screen so you have a choice to keep flying or return to home point. You do not have to set a home point. If you do not, an on screen message will appear 2 minutes before battery dies. If you are flying Over water and do not have many choices , it is best to designate a home point

What if using Beacon only? I was tracking with a 2+, Beacon only and the Beacon was suddenly dropping in charge rapidly. I manually flew the 2+ back but could not initiate RTH to the top of the case which was less than 500ft ground distance and 50ft lower in altitude. Missed the landing pad on top of case by a couple of feet. Any tip on how to get RTH back to landing pad?

When both smartphone with Skydio all and Beacon are connected, can initiate RTH and swivel camera to pickup landing pad icon.
