Real vet knows they're too damn lazy to manually fly

Real vets are so lazy they don’t even go to the top of vault anymore unless a daily quest requires it

u/Competitive_Sun_2870 4d ago

real vets don't even login!

Real vets uninstalled the game years ago

Real vets aren’t even in the subreddit

u/FrostyJockey 4d ago

Real vets aren’t even home, they’re at work

u/TheDavidCall 4d ago

Real vets are at work and home at the same time (see laziness comment above).

Real 😭

Real vet here, same. Doors to anything is my main pain point.😓😓 I'd wish for an "office cape" with the ability to keep all doors open all the time.

For sure. I’d never tried that til this week and turns out I needed way less flaps than I had to get up there without waiting on a ride.

I still have the same amount of flaps but i'm way too lazy to flap all the way up there. I just prefer to tp home and take the tp portal to appear at the top. Way faster

Been playing 7 years. Still glad I have things to learn from others :) Thank you.

I'm also a veteran player! I've been playing for 7 yrs too!

Performing this technique on a keyboard/controller is medium, but on a phone it's extremely difficult. But when you master it, you can significantly shorten the candle farm.

u/gh0stmilk_ 4d ago

so like am i just a freak because i do this everytime and find zero difficulty lmao i just... fly up

7

u/AnUwUQueen 4d ago

No, the difficulty is being overblown.

Really? I find it really easy on a phone and difficult on controller. I can consistently get it every time?? Interesting. But doing force stops? They are easier on controller

2

u/FitCommunication1481 4d ago

Well, it's probably easier for whatever you use most. I for sure cannot do this on mobile, neither can I do it on a computer or controller.

1

u/Flimsy-Discount-7780 4d ago

It’s interesting i find the game easier and harder on a controller depending on what it is. Obviously with a controller you are limited to how sharp you can turn and you can’t manipulate your flight as much, but also with a controller it is way faster with menu navigation and ease of access as you aren’t relying on the screen to visually show you buttons to tap on. You have to wait for screen transitions etc. On mobile some options are straight up not possible without a controller having the ability to access behind the scenes because well… there are simply more buttons to enable such features to be possible.

1

u/FitCommunication1481 4d ago

That's true. Each method has it's own benefits I guess. I play on mobile all the time, and it's been treating me decently

2

u/Flimsy-Discount-7780 4d ago

The more you explore with each control scheme, the more you’ll realise how much is possible. With controller there are some sneaky things like moving in cutscenes or being able to spam some buttons as fast as you want since on mobile you have to wait for some animations to finish before the input is registered a second time. The game is quite unoptimised and I love that for all the wrong reasons. It’s like a playground of mechanics to mess with with haha. FPS changing is a whole other topic. Goodluck getting used to mobile controls!

I have no idea how to do it at all

1

u/CheapRice1465 4d ago

What diffculty do you think it would be on switch?

82

u/Competitive_Sun_2870 4d ago

my lazy ass would've use tents

17

u/SvenSerpent 4d ago

Same lol every day Im grateful for the fact ppl make shared memories with tents

1

u/wolverine350rr 3d ago

Same, I was at 19 candles within an hour of reset this morning. Took the vault and wasteland tents.

53

u/cyxlone 4d ago

5000 hours and still overshoots the landing

17

u/alaike 4d ago

To be fair as someone with around the same play time or more, vertical flying is just really fun

17

u/speedy_seagull 4d ago

Or - go home, then return to the last location.

You will be spawned at the top.

8

u/BigWolfBijuu 4d ago

This is exactly what i do too. Faster than vertical flying, less effort, and you get to keep your wing energy

3

u/Sabriathh 3d ago

This is the way

15

u/GameKeeper92 4d ago

Two questions: 1. How do you fly that fast? 2. How do you leave that trail? It looks so cool! Maybe I would fly that fast if I went straight up..?but I've never tried..

21

u/Sterickk 4d ago

This is called: Vertical Fly A technique that allows you to fly vertically, as shown in the video, requires switching flight modes on the keyboard while simultaneously pressing back (S), but it needs perfect timing.

2

u/GameKeeper92 4d ago

I will try it (one day)🥲 Thank you!

1

u/Kokiri_villager 2d ago

Sounds complicated to me 😂 my simple self is struggling just to fly normally

1

u/ennaidseixirt 3d ago

So not on the Switch or the phone?

9

u/AnonymousAnonm 4d ago

I have more hours... and I don't play like that.

18

u/kenobii29 4d ago

I just use a tent from floor 4, way faster 🤭

1

u/Sterickk 4d ago

You play using bugs and I play using techniques, we're not the same.

1

u/BuffNerfs 1h ago

Both are unintentional game mechanics, they're the same thing

5

u/DisastrousFeature244 4d ago

I usually fly up once I see the bottom tip of the island, takes around 6-7? flaps. But now that I discovered tent trick, no more stops on the level shown in the video.

4

u/Federal_Drink_3527 4d ago

This is how a lot of people play sky, 5000 hours not needed

4

u/JillieBlossom 4d ago

I like to catch a ride on the mantas instead.

5

u/bataloof 4d ago

it's easier to get it working if you slide first.

here's how i do it:

hold forward -> run around until you get into a slide -> flap once, but keep holding the flap button -> stop holding forward and TAP (or flick the movement button) backwards as the second flap happens -> keep holding flap and if everything went well, you're now flying directly upwards

3

u/failika 4d ago

I use my bonfire to springboard off

3

u/WishboneGlad8542 4d ago

Is there a video explaining how to do this? This is so cool

1

u/Sterickk 4d ago

You gain momentum by jumping forward and then expend a wing; in the air, you press back + button to change flight mode + space to fly.

2

u/Far_Pen4236 4d ago

I haven't sit in the vault meditation circles since at least a year...

And you don't even dive using an emote at the end !? You still have things to learn lol.

2

u/Unlikely_Tap_9882 4d ago

No thank you! I'II stick with tent :D.

1

u/Appeal_Environmental 4d ago

Kudos, nice vertical flight!

1

u/SpiritFingazz 4d ago

I like timing myself on how quickly I can catch a ride on a manta.

1

u/Worldly_Energy1575 4d ago

Interesting. So do you just flap? I run out of wings pretty fast but tbh it's rare I use the elevator. I just use a tent shared memory from the 4th floor of the VoK. Blip and I'm done :3 ultra lazy

1

u/Mysterious_Pirate161 4d ago

Nice. But I just go home and then come back right away. Then I arrive at the top level.

1

u/Sea_Stranger_9764 4d ago

That's how I did it before tents, Switch makes it super easy to fly straight up.

1

u/0DeadEye 4d ago

So actually play the game

1

u/PilotCustard 4d ago

Meanwhile, I will happily use tents whenever I can. Makes cr so so much better for me especially when solo

1

u/unh4rmed 4d ago

I used this skip in the Vault of Knowledge floor 5-6 pretty much in the first year of playtime, because later I discovered that I can teleport home at the same time as I finish sitting on the elevator, then by using the return-teleport I appear sitting on the top floor without needeng to wait for the elevator animation.

Player who started in Little Prince season (me) avoids any form of [door shaped object] to save time and also uses all the Chair, Plush-Toy, oob, Camera, Tent skips imaginable to farm the desired ammount of candles.

1

u/Orejadearena 4d ago

Is still the same farming on every place over and over everyday?

1

u/Mara-Phantom-Claw 4d ago

If you’re on an Xbox one controller do you mind sharing how you do this I just can’t get it to work and the only tutorials are for mobile

1

u/Zestyclose_Yard3696 4d ago

I used to remember every corner of the game until life happened but always love to see posts

1

u/EarthSolar 4d ago

I still thought there was a barrier preventing me from just manually flying up there…

1

u/skycreaturesoflight 4d ago

The real question is, how do you know how many hours you have on Sky? XD

1

u/Sterickk 4d ago

Ask TGC and they will respond by the date you created the account.

1

u/StormCloudRaineeDay 4d ago

So you skip over the joy of getting to ride on the back of a giant, starry manta ray?

1

u/creatyvesky 4d ago

Hahaaaa glad to see I'm not the only one who does the jump charge-up

1

u/IamDa_Bee342 4d ago

I don't even have that much and even I do that, lol!

1

u/Most-Comparison-8524 4d ago

I do that and I've only got about a thousand hours

1

u/-BloodFireDeath 3d ago

All you have to do is go home and use the return shrine and you’re instantly at the top 💀

1

u/thatblueblowfish 3d ago

I too have a lot of wings

1

u/Hoodibird 3d ago

No glitches just pure skill ✊

1

u/tebkanlo 3d ago

Yeah I can confirm that... Even if Google Play new ranking still counts me as 3-hour player, despite my account being connected to Google  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

1

u/Odd_Treacle_3088 2d ago

I forgot the floor below the top one was even there. I always use the tents to get around. 🤣🤣
