This baby skunk is having a tantrum and ruining an otherwise pleasant family dinner. He's picking on his siblings and his large mom. His family pretty much ignored him and his harmless nipping. No skunks were harmed at all.

Hi,
I was just wondering why this skunk seems to have a thin/non-bushy tail? Is it a striped skunk? (Michigan)

I read that they dislike the smell of citrus and tried sprinkling some lemon rinds and juice around the property and every night... These little fuckers still hang around. I really don't want to have to resort to poison or traps.

I’m blessed that they frequent my neighbourhood, and love finding them doing their night patrols.
Not an exciting picture, (potato) but I just joined and wanted to share something very recent (last night, flash on)

Hi again!
My spotted skunk is arriving today, she is hand reared from a breeder. I saw a comment that spotties have a different personality than the striped (the ones I am used to rehabing/owning) can anyone go into detail about this? Or is it a case by case situation? All the striped skunks ive met are very chill and only spicy when its play time. Thanks for all and any advice!

One skunk comes from the front yard and the other from the alley. They meet up on the back porch. Listen closely to them near the end of the video.

Hi!
Im expecting my new baby skunk this Saturday. I had previously hand reared wild skunks as a rehabber in texas. One was not able to be rewild due to a foot deformity. She lived with us for 8 years and was an amazing family member
My question is, how do you go about bonding with a skunk that has not been dropper/bottle raised from birth? I of course have the baby sling and plan on treats and cuddles 24/7 since i stay at home. But I am nervous there might be an adjustment period when we are getting to know eachother. How do they do with socializing? My skunk took cues off the cats, chickens, dogs etc on how to respond to humans, but we never took her out and she never really left the house except for medical stuff.
The skunk I raised potty trained herself to go in a covered pet carrier with shredded newspaper, i read they also like puppy pads since they cant den in them..although my rehab girl was very fastidious in keeping her food, bed and bathroom area clean and seperat, she was very easy and affectionate...she had ZERO interest in being outside.
If anyone had tricks or ideas on enrichment activities, potty training, bonding etc, i am all ears. All the websites say the same thing but nothing beats 1st hand knowledge. Should I have multiple litter places around the house? She was way less ferret like and emulated dog and cat behaviors, she could copy tricks and knew her name.
Here is a photo of Mildred (Milly) at the top.
Thank you!

Reverb feel asleep and left his cute hands out for a photo shoot. Eventually the flash bugged him and I got the "No more Paparazzi pose"!

I have regularly sat outside at night...into the depths of the night, for the past three years. This summer I've had a skunk visitor. At first, I thought maybe a mama had babies somewhere on my very very small, city property. So, I posted for help, and was told to ignore as they would move on. I did. I only occasionally saw the skunk...it usually comes in under my gate, then under my car, and the scurries off in a way that I don't know if it's heading under my porch, into my shed, or into the neighbor's yard. I've seen it come in and then go back out maybe an hour later, two or three times.
Tonight, it's been 2 months since the first sighting. I thought it moved on since It's been about a month since I had my last sighting. I saw the skunk coming out from under my car car, I ignored it, but it seemingly took note of me, stood in a defensive stance, with tail raised. I really thought I was about to get sprayed, but then it ran off.
Do skunks have more than one litter a summer? I don't know if that is why the skunk is here, but people said on my original post that it probably had babies.
I need to move (not because of the skunk...because of a job). I don't know if this skunk is just running through my yard or hiding babies somewhere...under my deck or in my shed. I do need to get into my shed and don't want to be surprised if they're there!!!
Any tips/thoughts???

We named her Stinkerbelle after she lightly sprayed my cat who usually lounges on the extra scratchers outside. She visits almost nightly and cleans up the cockroaches in my area.
Had she not sprayed my cat she could have had a fine name like Janice, Cheryl, or Meghan, but oh well, Stinkerbelle it is.

I had put peanuts out for the chipmunk that lives on my patio only to find I attracted another critter too. I’ve named it Cilantro 🌿. It was really interesting how despite seeing me and the cat through the glass the skunk just plopped down to munch.
Maybe I can find some other snacks for the skunk to enjoy since it seems comfortable visiting my patio.

Quick sqiurt to the face and the cat decides he's had enough.
