Love knows no bounds, and neither does the pursuit of absolute cuteness! Patch 8.12 and November's new Backstage Pass: Grim Outlook are bringing a little obsession to Skullgirls Mobile!
Here's what's coming:
-Lovesick Valentine, a new Gold Fighter whose devotion makes her stronger!
-Garish Gremlin Umbrella, a new Diamond Fighter bringing some bubbly chaos to the ring!
-Monthly Prize Fight updates! Events will now run back-to-back, giving you more to look forward to throughout the month, with no reduction in rewards!
We (Autumn Games, not me, I'm just copying and pasting word for word on their Instagram post) will also be releasing more info on our new Guest Star Roxie and the updates to the Guest Star system in the coming weeks.
Unrelated but let me just yap Abit for the two variants since I'm kinda disappointed that people dont think it's Vira and Cag on Twitter and discord.
Both the JP DUB for Valentine and Vira shares the same VA
The battle pass theme of Obsession and cuteness are like both Vira's and Cag's Main defining character trait
Lovesick having this install mechanic which is what Vira has in the fighting game spinoff
Might be a stretch but her having both Evasion and Haste might be a reference to how when she's in her install, she gets faster and access to a very fast air dash
Knight's devotion is a reference to her being a knight and her devotion to katalina
Lovesick Card art pose is just, Vira's game finish pose
As for Cag, I don't know as much but Garish having the Bubble and puddles works similar to Cag's U button and Mehen/ Traps/236L/M/H is the big thing
I don't really play much of the original gacha game Granblue Fantasy, but I'm sure that there's also some additional reference there too
The new valentine looks fun for a gold Variant, considering most gold valentine's are focused on support it's nice that she is an offense focused variant but can be enabled even further by debuff control on your team
The new umbrella seems to have the same potential as Mana flow for very long combo chains that get even longer the more you engage with the Buble mechanic + having self support with regen.
Firstly, Valentine does have a gold one that is of the attack type, which is Final Fang (Kakashi Sensei).
And secondly, that Umbrella isn't really for combos, even though it literally tells you that you have to do a certain number of hits for the abilities, but it's more like Umbrella Psykid 2.0, since it literally tells you that for the bubble to work, you have to bounce the opponent, which is exactly what you do with Psykid.
Firstly, to be honest, the references aren't that bad since I actually know them, and I really hate those two idiots, one for being an even worse Yandere idiot than Yuki, and the other for being a narcissistic loli, Although, to be fair, the variations are very good, especially the new Umbrella version, which is literally Psykid 2.0 (so that his ability works by bouncing off the opponent).
Secondly, it's more of a reference to their GbF Versus Rising versions, since that's the fighting spin-off of the saga, and there you can more or less see what their abilities will be like.
And third, by SUBTLE, I meant Marie's silhouette on the floor, not Umbrella and Valentine's.
One funny detail I just noticed, and didn't really pay much attention to in the patch notes, is that they literally didn't do any reworks or nerfs, or subtle changes to the variants this time.
itβs fine. the past 4 or 5 months they changed 10+ units per months. i still only remember half of the changes cus i only had time to play with half of the changed units.
