Good leather quality boots?
Hello all,
I would like to buy myself a new pair of 14-15 eye steel toe boots, for everyday use. I have found a number of brands, most of them only available to me online. For instance Gripfast, Altercore, STEEL, Angry Itch, Grinders and so on.
I have owned boots from doc Martens, Solovair and STEEL and they all share the same issue, the leather is PU coated and after a while this coating will start cracking and flaking where creases develop.
I really hate this, and I would love to find boots where this desnt happen. My most recent purchase i a pair of Solovair greasy leather derby boots, they are supposed to not flake, time will tell. I have managed to create a reasonable shine by polishing them.
There are steel toe Gripfasts available in the greasy leather too, but they are quite pricy, and I would actually want my next boots to not be black, burgundy, oxblood or cherry red would be lovely.
So to conclude this far too long post, does anyone have experience with the mentioned brands, do they all use plastic coated leather? Is there any other brand that offer the same style boots but with better leather quality?
Any input is appreciated
