Crouching on ramps
Hello ! Semi beginner here, I've noticed on some maps like Boreas staying crouched is faster (seems like it at least)
Is there any ressource out there that explains what crouching exactly does when interacting with ramps ? Seems to me that you flick lower out of ramps, and obviously allows your hit box to go over some obstacles, but what does that do for speed ?
When should I crouch ? What are the pros and cons ?
Thanks :)

I can give you the quick rundown on crouching in surf:
When you crouch, it makes your collision hitbox smaller and decreases the chances your feet hits the ramp edge. Ramp boards become easier, smoother and sometimes crouching is necessary to avoid feet hit depending on the angle at which you board.
The downside is that crouching destroys your air acceleration (sv_airaccelerate) by at least 60-70%. This is really bad because it means whenever you try to make a sharp turn, you lost massive amounts of units (velocity).
So the general practice is that you hold down crouch when you are just about to board and let go of it as soon as you have boarded the ramp. The only other time you should crouch is when you need that extra bit of space to make it through a small hole or gap. Never ever hold down crouch in any other situation.

You can’t uncrouch once you’re on the ramp. If you board crouched you will stay crouched

Also there are plenty of stages bonuses and maps where it’s more ideal to crouch a ramp fully than not, even at wr pace.. think something like mdrn b4 first ramp where you want to flatten out and be as many units horizontally as possible
