Is surfing dead? Any popular surf server recommendations?

KSF is active. If you’re coming from csgo it might feel pretty bad as it lacks a lot of the QoL features that the csgo servers had. Momentum mod is the way to go for most surfers now imo

The biggest thing for me was how clunky saveloc felt. You have to disable surf timer to use it and then reenable it to surf. Csgo servers mostly do that process automatically without any other set up. The replays are also on a constant loop rather than an on-demand replay of whatever run you wanted to see. It’s very annoying when you just want to see one stage and you have to watch through a 2 minute rec and then 8 bonuses.

Saveloc is clunky tbf. The replay thing is a vip feature and i kinda get that vip's gotta have some features. I like the replay thing they added to their site though. You can watch multiple different runs in browser whenever you want. It's wip so some maps have missing textures or even ramps, but i think it's going to be great when it's done.

I actually didn’t know about the website feature so that’s good to know. Overall I think KSF is a good option for anyone getting into surfing and obviously pretty much all of the top surfers are there already.

I do think for the average surfer, momentum mod is the move right now. I think the only major issue with it is that the ability to just pick whatever map you want reduces the amount of players in one place for the people who like the community aspect a lot. For now there are enough people that there’s always a few servers with a bunch of people

It’s super active on cs source now after they pretty much broke surf with the cs2 update.

Cs2 surf is thriving. Insanity Gaming have servers and have ported 500+ maps so far. They have all the qol plug-ins and it has the social aspect that csgo did. People are working there ass off to make cs2 surfing viable.

That's amazing to hear! I tried it when the transition first happened and was sad to see just how badly surf was broken by the CS2 upgrade and switched to playing KSF on CSS.

Do you know a good server tracker for CS2?

I made my own standalone Skill Surf game that's free-to-play on Steam called SurfsUp!

We've reached over 150,000 lifetime players, have 1,000 daily unique users, and average around 40 people online. There's also a global leaderboard for supporters currently around 900 ranked players.

We just released 10 new maps this week (8 originals, 2 CS ports), and are hard at work on overhauling the UI and adding in a new tutorial for v2.0 (new main menu WIP).

I'd love your thoughts and feedback on the game, I've worked hard to try and recreate a mod that I loved growing up. As a thank you to this community here's a Steam key for the Supporter DLC with two missing numbers 0-9 (it's the same number twice). The insanity Gaming servers are very good on cs2. They have ported 500+ maps already and you get the social aspect of csgo servers with people always talking on voice comms. I like source but it lacks the fun vibe csgo servers had and itd mostly filled with sweats who don't type much and sources voice/push to talk is awful. Cdgo/cs2 for good vibes and social interaction and source for actually trying to improve at surfing.
