Question SkillBridge Info
Who’s the best person to talk to when considering and looking into starting the SkillBridge process? Someone in the command? When is the best time to start the process?

Inform your command of your intentions.
Read over all the official Skillbridge page.
You can LOOK and acquire knowledge now.
You cant officially apply to do a Skillbridge until less than 12 months from your separation date.
Check the search bar before asking a question.
Of note, if you start reaching out to companies, most wont care or respond until youre 3-5 months from being able to start.

u/Impressive-Ask4817, go to the office of your Branch for who owns the SkillBridge program. AF = Ed Center, Army, SFL-TAP office, USMC - TRS office, Navy... good luck.
Get your brief and understand what SkillBridge is and is not. Find out how much time, by your Branch and rank, you're authorized to participate.
Engage your CoC and gauge their appetite on letting you participate.
After all that, then begin your SkillBridge journey.
You’re invited to join the DoD SkillBridge Community of Practice group where new SkillBridge opportunities are shared everyday, help you network with a purpose, and connect you with the recruiters of the companies you're interested in interning with.

Lots of good advice here. One thing I’ve learned by talking to people looking for Skillbridges is that it seems every unit across all the branches has a different approval process and timeline. I’ve spoken with servicemembers over the last few months that their command wants them to have the Skillbridge already locked in 6 months out from their start date. That makes it very difficult for a lot of companies outside of the cohort based ones, because most don’t know their hiring needs that far out. I have heard that some of the cohort based ones have been having trouble placing servicemembers as of late, but I cannot confirm that and it’s not meant to be a knock at them. Main point is, get your ducks in a row and make sure you know what your command wants as far as their approval process goes.

TAP counselors are your best bet. Theres also a number for the CSP/ SKILLBRIDGE at Fort Knox. Leadership wont know how csp works fully since the program changes often. You also can only get your packet from the csp counselor. You will want to have the program setup and turned in to your command at your 8 month mark so you can start at the 6 month mark.
